Quick question - for my most recent job I think I stated my starting salary a little higher by mistake. Current salary is correct though. Any idea what they use this info for and if I should contact them to correct it?
Thanks!
Generally they'll look at salary increase as a proxy to see if you had increasing responsibilities or were successful in your job. Of course, the scale of increase varies by industry, so just because you're not making banker money as an engineer they won't think you're less successful.
I would send them an email to let them know about it, just to be on the record that it was an unintentional error.
