Did anyone who was admitted already submit their application at the last possible second? I did not submit mine until 1 hour before the deadline, so I'm assuming I am at the bottom of the pile. Thoughts?

Thinking this won't make much of a difference since it wont be fully complete depending on when your interviewer submitted their notes. That said it seems like decisions have been very random regardless!

I'll second that - not all dings are out. Still waiting here; status update says app completed. Interviewed on campus Nov 19, so it seems like the later interviews are being decided later. Congrats to those who are accepted, and for the dings, drinks are on me...

Does the status say this for you ? --> "All the required elements of your application are complete.

If your interview has been completed, the application has been submitted for review to the admissions committee. If your interview has not been conducted, the application will be submitted to the admissions committee upon completion of the interview. The next status check update will be the admission decision (Admit, Waitlist or Deny). When a decision has been rendered, the Office of Admissions will send you an email notifying you to check your status for your decision. Decisions will be released throughout the round, but the majority of decisions will be released during the last several weeks of the round. "

Yep, that's what mine says. Still waiting here... expecting ding or WL at this point, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

No email yet , no status update either. What do you think is going to happen to us?

My guess is that, since they dont really review your file until your interview, it only after you have completed your interview it goes into the actual queue. So there might be a better correlation to your interview date. But, this is my BS theory so feel free to ignore it :-) Also I have not received any news yet from the adcom.

So, the alum who wrote one of my recs called an adcom member. Here's what they said:

1. It's a slower process than people understand
2. Admits will be coming out until the 20th

Thanks for getting the inside info, Zorro. I think I'm going to turn off the forum and let sleeping dogs lie. What's done is done, and I can't keep neurotically checking my status every 15 minutes for a week. :-D

Kellogg round 1 applicant dinged today. Saw some posts saying that early dings weren't occurring. However, it is true. It does look like dings go out in the morning in an email, requesting you to check your status. When you click you receive the letter informing you of your denial:

The Admissions Committee has completed its review of your application for the Kellogg School of Management and Two-Year Program. Despite your many merits as a candidate, I regret to inform you that we are not able to offer you a place in the entering class. See below:

The Admissions Committee carefully evaluated your application in the following areas: work experience, career plans, academic ability and performance, extracurricular and community involvement, leadership and interpersonal skills. Decisions are based upon a thorough evaluation of your individual strengths and weaknesses, as well as your qualifications relative to all others in our applicant pool. This decision is not a reflection of your personal qualities and achievements or your potential for success in management, but merely a reflection of the limited number of places in the class.

We certainly wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, and thank you for your interest in the Kellogg School of Management and Two-Year Program .

Sincerely,

Beth Flye
Assistant Dean, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid

Racking my brain to figure out what I need to change for Round 2. I thought I was a fairly competitive applicant.

My guess (nothing based in fact) is that your best outcome would be that they put you on the WL and they might decide to interview you later with the R2 pool. That being said, the chances on this are probably not very good (again, just my guess, I think it's good to be realistic though).

Also not sure if Kellogg does this at all (I believe other schools definitely do). Someone else might be able to comment with more authority on the subject.

For those of you wondering what the application status says once you get an admit, here it is. It takes a day to update since I got my call yesterday.

Congratulations! You have been admitted to the Kellogg School of Management. You will receive your official admit letter and additional information via postal mail. We commend you on your personal and professional accomplishments, and we look forward to welcoming you to Kellogg.

Sincerely,

Beth Flye

You know, what would happen if we just showed up at Kellogg even with a ding and attended classes, etc. for 2 years? Wouldn't they have to give a degree afterwards just because?

FYI - KIDDING. Attempting this may result in your face across a newspaper in a way you don't like.
