Are you looking to do a double with the Erb institute? I am looking at that, I'm really interested, just not sure how much that would effect me in terms of recruiting and cost.
yes, i'm definitely doing the dual degree if i end up at ross. the program looks awesome.
trying to figure out cost as well. for the grad students, there's a big difference b/w in-state and out-of-state, but it seems that establishing residency might be tough by u of m rules -
https://www.umich.edu/~regoff/resreg.html. looks like an extra year at snre will run ~$33k or $50k with fees (vs $65 for ross).
benefits of erb are you get 2 internships, which might be helpful in riding out the market, and erb is recognized as a strong program, so recruiters may target erb students. you also get the added network of erb alums. plus with obama's focus on energy and the green economy, sustainability will keep growing in importance and hopefully in jobs.
cons are an added year of debt and currently, a low priority in green initiatives with all the other stuff companies are worrying about right now. even with the strength of the erb program, i'm guessing students will still have to invest time in their own job hunt.
i will add though that at the annual net impact conference in nov @ wharton, the vp of sustainability at walmart gave a keynote address and called out an erb student by name who interned there over the summer. he talked about the great work she did and how they still had her on retainer. i thought that was pretty neat. ross' net impact club has also won chapter of the year 2 years in a row, so that's also very impressive.
