I bet the "ding" is someone just giving up. I don't think Sloan releases any decisions for R1 until the decision day (or atleast thats the way it was last year).

The guy claiming the R2 interview had the invite coming on 1/8, 7 days before the R2 deadline. I'd hesitate to put much stock in that.

I am betting a lot of people waiting on MIT have already made decisions, so that ding could easily be someone who got in somewhere else and was just giving up on MIT.

That 01/08 interview dude sounds more than shady. If he claims he applied for R2 he is flat out a liar. How can you be interviewed before your application is read at Sloan? He s/b confusing this with one of the "let's interview everybody" schools....

So far, nobody I know has heard from Sloan for R2.

Its easy street after you get an admit. I would be stressed if I didnt have one in my pocket already and pretty much had my mind made up. We will see, my wife is still pulling hard for MIT, but I am thinking WL at best at this point.

MIT has been known in the past to invite up to the deadline...I actually was told that they have been known to contact people post deadline (not sure if thats true or someone trying to make me feel better about getting one). If apps are way up I could see that happening given their adcoms doing all the interviews after reviewing applications.
