Yes, it is in the mailed package - thus the one week delay between when I found out about my admission online and when I found out about the scholarship

Thats correct. It is completely optional.

By the way,
all the events during admit weekend are listed at business casual. Whats business casual in NYC? Dinner at the Nasdaq kind of seems like a suit event.

Business casual would be a Seersucker suit, but it is too early in the year.

I jest - a shirt with a collar that isn't a polo. Not jeans or shorts. Not sneakers. I think that is about the rules. It involves most men conforming into standard american boring chino's and rolled up sleeves on a shirt.

I hate business casual, though I think it works a lot easier for women as they have nice stuff that falls into the category whereas for men it is all really bland. Unless you wear critter pants.

Hi guys - longtime lurker. Just got admitted on Friday, 29 days after my interview. I had assumed that they were going to ding me after waiting for so long, but I got accepted. So for those who are still waiting to hear, don't lose hope! :)

i asked adcom and they said that SOs are allowed at every event except for the alumni lunch (on sunday i think) because of space restrictions. my bf has friends in nyc so i figure i'll have him come to the first couple of events and if it's awkward then he'll just hang out with his friends for the rest of the weekend. i kinda want him there so that he can understand more what the mba experience is about so he can learn to be supportive when i'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off!

There were two dudes rocking seersucker suits at the Johnson admitted students weekend, so I think it is an option. However, I believe etiquette dictates that you must fly in from Martha's Vineyard on your G550 beforehand.

I got the same response from adcom regarding the alumni lunch. I am bringing my fiancee to some of the events; I haven't decided which ones. I share the same concerns about it being awkward. I think at a minimum she'll attend the dinners, the night out, and the off-campus housing presentation. She's truly interested in the whole MBA thing but I don't want to bother the other admits.
