Not sure if people want to use this, my friend whos is a Stern '11 sent me the resume template.

Obviously, we have to change the top where it says NYU Stern, but I left it for people to sub in any graduate degrees they may have. I think it would be beneficial to use their format to show a committment to learning about Stern and putting in a few minutes of extra effort, maybe I am wrong, I am just an Army dude...

Also, this should be much more user friendly then the link I posted earlier.

+1

The general consensus is that you don't need to convert your resume to each school's format. Having said that, I'll take any positive I can so I've done it.

Hey guys,

I am having some trouble with official transcripts, and I can't seem to find the answers in any of the Stern threads. Anyway, I didn't realize Stern requests scanned copies of the OFFICIAL transcripts from your undergraduate institutions. For my other apps, I was able to submit unofficial copies that I obtained my school's electronic resources. Do I need to submit actual official transcripts, or will the unofficial transcripts suffice since they will be able to see the OFFICIAL version during the potential interview?

Am I better off just using Stern's Self-Reported Transcript form?

I think you either want to scan the official transcript OR use the self-reported template. So if you don't have an official version, go with the latter.

Can anyone help me with the recommendation questions? Or probably direct me to relevant online link? I guess I am too tired after work to see the obvious.

Does anyone have a list of NYU's recommender questions?

My recommender is asking for them and I can't seem to find them on the NYU website.

This might help?

I apologize if this has already been asked.

Do the essays have to answer the question in the same order that the question is asked or can I start with part (c) if it's the most effective way to answer part (a)?

Hey rouzbie, I was wondering the same thing. I ended up writing my essay in order (a, b, c) after reading Stacy Blackman's post (Google "stacy blackman nyu stern tuesday tips"). I think what she says makes chronological sense, so I began my essay with a short preview of my lifelong motivations/goals, and then talked about my past choices (academic and professionally), why an MBA and then short- and long-term goals.

Also, Columbia's essay prompt is similar, but in reverse (goals, then why an MBA at Columbia), so NYU might also be wary about students copying over their Columbia essay to apply to NYU. Doing it in the order of NYU's essay prompt might help alleviate that potential concern on NYU's part.

Do people at stern call themselves "sternites" or is that uncommon?

guys,

i just uploaded my essays with the header from the directions but when I clicked the document and it opened up the PDF version on the application it only showed page# and not the other data, is this messed up?

Not sure if it just does that automatically, appreciate any insight

Hey wp06, I used Microsoft Word (.DOC) to type my essays, and the uploaded version of my essays (.PDF) seemed to display the header (name, birthdate, page number) just fine. Maybe you can try converting your essay to PDF first and then uploading that? Alternatively, you can try calling the ApplyYourself technical support - I've read in other threads that they can be helpful.
