Applied on the last day of Round 2.. My recommendation is still due...Will my application be reviewed only after the recommendation is submitted...My love for Rice MBA is growing every day...It's my dream school...I wish i get an interview call..keeping my fingers crossed..

I received an interview invite before my recommendation was submitted. They usually review the applications fairly quickly.

Hi,

Do we need to send in the official GMAT report for the initial evaluation of the application?

I did not see any requirement as such for Jones as yet.

Similar to you, I submitted on the 4th and received an unexpected fee waiver despite not meeting any prerequisites listed on the admissions guide. It was a pleasant surprise though!

Not for the initial evaluation, though you will need to send official scores at some point. Self-reported scores should be sufficient to get things started.

Good luck! Don't worry about the interview, it's very low pressure and should be more like a conversation about your career goals and what you look forward to participating in at Rice. They just want to get a feel for how you will fit in with the class.

I wouldn't be concerned this early. I truly believe, quoting their own application, admissions uses a wholistic approach to application evaluation. My GMAT score isn't the strength of my application, and many would say my work as an educator is undesirable. However, I was confident in my ability to use the entire application to tell my story and prove why I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be in life and how Rice University is a part of that vision. If I'm admitted, it will be a product of my life story, not a score.
