Congratulations to everyone invited to Ross. I just had my first interview last Friday and it was at Ross. The school is beautiful and the weather was really mild, around 40 F. I stayed at the Ann Arbor Regent, a decent place for a decent price. The Moroccan restaurant across the street from the hotel was really good.
I arrived 20 minutes before my scheduled time and waited until I got called in. I was interviewed by a 2nd year student with a consulting background. The questions were standard, run me through your resume, why Ross, Why an MBA now, a difficult team environment and how I dealt with it, what were my career interests, and which one was the last book I read.
The key is to try to make the interview into a formal but a relaxed conversation. The difficult questions come from the follow up questions by the interviewer. Pay attention to the question and prepare a strong rebuttal. The follow up questions were challenging, be ready.
The most surprising thing was that after my 45 minute interview, my interviewer walked out and sat at the lobby with me to chat for another 60 minutes. I thought it was great that he wanted to continue chatting and I saw it as a positive sign. After that, I got together with first year student and he gave me a tour of the campus. We had lunch together in downtown Ann Arbor. I loved the school and I hope I can get the call.
