I'm in for R1. I seem to be re-thinking 'what matters most' about every other day. In any case, getting the app done in time for R1 is what matters most right now...

MBA News: Early Interviews at the Stanford GSB
August 24th, 2009 | Posted in News

Most MBA admissions officers will tell you that it does not matter whether you send your application in early or at the deadline, because they will not read your application until the deadline passes. Stanford seems to have changed its tune as of late or, at a minimum, articulated a policy that few knew existed before. Stanford will now be reviewing applications and inviting candidates for interviews before its first round deadline passes. Does this mean that others are at an advantage if they get their applications in early? Not really. We are guessing that this is primarily a pragmatic choice, allowing for a more even flow of work for the admissions committee. Still, the committee no doubt appreciates the opportunity to reach out to a few stars and ensure that they are not caught up in another school’s web (CBS early decision for example). we would advise, as we always do, to place quality ahead of speed. Don’t rush your application — get it in when it is at its best.

I had originally ruled out Stanford, mostly because of the ridiculously low acceptance rate. But, the more I thought about it, I really think it is the perfect school for me. Besides, what have I got to lose (besides my app fee of course...).

I'm in for Round 1.

Count me in R1.

One recommender just came back to me, he is not sure about following recommender questions:

"What (if any) legacy has this candidate left on your organization?"

What are your thoughts?

I am also wondering since "legacy" is quite a big term.. thinking about what a 2nd-year i-banker or consultant that is still working with his employer already left as a legacy.. I am not sure whether this works well in that context. Thanks for your advice..

Well that is a loaded question. Remember that we've used sports & politics to glamorize the definition of Legacy. A legacy is just anything that you've passed down to a second generation. So if they rephrased the question as "What has this applicant left behind that improves the company", would they have a better time answering then?

Standard disclaimer - it's just my opinion :-D

Roll Call Page Updated

Sorry guys. I should be updating it more regularly but no matter how many hours I devote to studying, I am falling behind every day thanks to all the "recommended" readings the professors are assigning me.

Does anyone want to moderate this Stanford 2010 thread? I think I can change the poster of this thread from "nink" to another member. My only requirement for anyone wanting to do this:

1) You should be applying to Stanford this year or currently a student
2) You have been around this forum long enough to know how this roll call page updates work

Now back to reading about Daimler Chrysler Merger and why they decided to move the HQ to Stuggart Germany, rather than US due to tax/legal implications.....

Gonna be on campus for the 9/21 on campus tour/info session.
Also going to be at the evening Kellogg info session in Mountain View, on the same day.

Anyone gonna be at either event?

Provided I am happy with my GMAT at the end of the month, I'll be in Round 1. If it is not "above the bar", then Round 2. Like everyone else, I am having a good time pondering the sound of one hand clapping whilst writing essay #1.

this may sound like a dumb question - but are hyperlinks, images etc ok to be put in the essay? i am trying to (literally) give a colorful picture of who i am and these would be nice to use, if allowed. any thoughts?

also, wondering if anyone knows if jerry porras is active and teaching organizational behavior at stanford gsb or at stanford in general? any insight would be much appreciated.

thanks in advance! also, WAKE UP STANFORD THREAD!
