My gf got an interview yesterday, the 29th. I wonder when they'll get to my app... Do they send-out rejections as they look at the applications?--or are we looking at a massive wave of them coming up.

As expected, some more interview invites just after thanks giving weekend. seems like there is similar pattern as last year.

I guess there will be 20-30 more interview invites between now and deadline. Apparently there was a guy last year who got interview invite only 5 days before decision date and got admit....

Therefore although hopes are getting slim but I am sure there will still be more invites this weekend.

Wish you luck to all the interview invitees.....

I think the total number of candidates they are going to interview is between 800-1200. Below is an extract from an auto-generated mail from Stanford:

We hope to interview between 800 and 1,200 applicants this year, and offer admission to between 400 and 500 candidates.

I think this estimation of how many invites is left is completely silly. This speculation of 20-30 spots left is laughably precise for something no one has any idea about. I would advise avoiding these posts. I took 2 weeks off from reading them and felt noticeably less stressed out. Just a thought.

But ignoring the severity of the situation is basically ignoring reality. 8-)

(I almost used "to ignore" in the first half and "ignoring" in the second half of the phrase, which would have violated the principle of parallelism; thanks GMAT!)

INTERVIEW INVITE HAS FINALLY ARRIVED :!:

Seeing the red blinking light on my blackberry indicating a new e-mail, something in my gut told me it was from Stanford. I have five days to complete the interview and oddly, I have been so crestfallen that I am yet to be excited- I might need all five days to pull myself out of depression! Good luck! And wow, 5 days isn't a whole lot of time. Still, go out and take a run. If I got an invite, I'd probably want to do just that because I'd be so full of nervous energy. A run should fix those blues.
