I was writing about my interview experience via pm for a fellow gmatclub member and thought others might like to know about my experience and advice. So here it is…
First, remain calm. My interviewer was an alumna in Dallas. The mood was very relaxed. They are just there to talk with you, so you don't need to view it like a job interview. The questions were similar to those found on the web wikis (Why MBA?, Why now?, Why Stanford?, Walk me through your resume, talk to me about your undergrad experience, tell me about your career vision, and then a few behavioral questions about experience with teams, leadership, and other events that shaped your life.) I just used clearadmit to help me understand the questions to expect. They asked me a lot about the teams I managed along with other leadership experience questions. You might also expect a question like "tell me about a book you read recently and what you learned from it". I wasn't expecting that one and it may have seriously hurt the interview. Go over your questions with a real person (friend, family, etc). Run through your answers until you feel comfortable and can give clear responses without rambling or having excessive pauses. They should sound fluid and precise, but should not sound rehearsed. This should require some reflection on the questions to make sure you really know the answers. I went through all of the questions at least 8 times. Be positive, smile, and be sure to show them you appreciate their time. You will do fine. Remember that you just need to build rapport with the person. They are judging fit and personality and are not there to be impressed by a vast list of accomplishments. Trying to look like a superstar might come off as arrogance. Have fun, good luck, and enjoy the process. I'm sure you will do fine.
