Submitted a couple of hours before the deadline. Currently on the east coast. Went to a tech school that I love to death, but very few people (besides myself and some of the other people who went to it) would ever claim to be as good or prestigious as an Ivy.

Hereicome - from what I've read on the forums the int. is more of a check the box item that won't get you in but can keep you out. What's the sign up process and how long do you have to schedule? Best of luck and keep us posted

Korazn - for our curious minds, would you be ok sharing when your friend submitted her app?

congrats hericome. you certainly might be a rockstar if you have gotten an invite this early! can you please share your profile / background?

hereicome
Got my invite today. I'm still pretty shocked and really excited.

One thing I'm wondering about is that everyone says it's the rockstars who get the early invites. I'm not sure if Jan 31 counts as early, but I wouldn't have guessed that I fall into that category. Is there any actual evidence that they get early invites, or is it purely anecdotal?

For those who have gotten in or had interviews, any advice you can offer would be HUGELY appreciated.

I cant believe people still do this i.e. harass people to share their profile...it's not very nice

There doesn't seem to be any evidence that the order of invites has anything to do with being a rockstar or time of submission, etc.. The rockstar theory would imply that the committee is only comfortable giving a small % of invites until they've been through the whole pile. Makes sense in a one-off, first-time situation but given that the Adcom does this every year and already has the Round 1 waitlist candidates as a baseline, it seems highly unlikely they would need to go through everyone first before coming up with a frame of reference.

Outcomes of last year's interviews, by time of invite, further bear this out:

Jan 20 - Accepted
Feb 1 - Dinged
Feb 2 - Dinged
Feb 4 - Waitlist
Feb 8 - Dinged
Feb 8 - Dinged
Feb 10 - Waitlist
Feb 15 - Waitlist
Feb 19 - Accepted
Feb 20 - Dinged?
Feb 25 - Accepted
Mar 3 - Accepted
Mar 4 - Dinged
Mar 5 - Accepted
Mar 8 - Accepted
Mar 8 - Accepted
Mar 9 - Dinged

Hi hereicome, congrats! care to share your profile? :-D

Thanks everyone!

As for me, I'm a 26 year old male working in consulting for 3.5 years, 750 gmat with a 3.35 gpa, decent EC during college but not a whole lot after. See what I mean about not feeling like a rockstar? Compared to the friend of the member earlier who he estimated to be in the top 5% in lots of categories, there are plenty I miss out on.

Regardless, I'm going to give the interview my best shot and cross my fingers. Any tips or insight you all could provide would be awesome.

I am happy for you and extremely jealous at the same time. :)

The stanford interviews seem to be their opportunity to judge "fit". Just be yourself and know where you want to be. Best of luck in your interview. cheers.

Hi hereicome. Was your invite delivered by a call, email or simply checking you application status? Good luck!

from what I have heard the order that interviews are given is not tied to any ranking of quality of applicant. the only benefit of being invited early is that you get to relax and know you received an interview. at least this is what I tell myself since I am not yet one of the lucky ones!
