After going throu this post, I checked my status on Texas MBA site and found that my applicaiton has been denied. My Profile

Nationality : Indian
Gmat : First 600 ( Q48, V 28) and then 700 ( Q49, V 35)
Graduation Score = 68%
Work Ex : IT (The most dreaded pool of applicants) - 4 years ( currently working as Associate Project manager)
Extracurricular : Worked with Rotaract, Currently associated with Toastmaster's club

Although I know that I miss that STAR quality in my profile, but I believe my profile is not that bad either.

My Question : Is it worth asking them the reason as to why I got a ding even without an interview or just live with it.

Can any of you help me with this?

Where was the status update on the application page? I just checked mine, but there was nothing there. Surely they send you an email if the status of your application changes... ?

I would think that you've got nothing to lose by emailing them and politely asking if you can get some feedback on your application. But understand that they're probably swamped with work right now, so think about following up in another month or two and asking again.

From an email I just got them:

Thank you for your recent application to the Texas MBA program at the McCombs School of Business for the Class of 2011! As we prepare for the holiday season, we wanted to inform you that the university offices will be closed from December 20th, 2008 through January 4th, 2009. Please be patient as we will be responding to all phone and email responses upon our return on January 5th, 2009. Also, please keep in mind that we are dealing with a high volume of applications so while we welcome your phone calls, we ask that you limit them to situations where you have a concern about your application, rather than checking the status of your application.

I just received that same email. I was hoping to hear from them before the break but it looks like another two plus weeks of waiting.

Just got the call. I have been accepted to McCombs!

Admit weekend is April 2-4. They also said that they find out the amount of available scholarship money in January and will make scholarship offers then. They are trying to get any admit decisions called today before their big holiday break so be by your phone!

For anyone curious I submitted my app Nov. 4 and interviewed Dec. 1.

How has everyone found UT Austin's website and application process to be? I feel other schools make it easier to resend links to recommenders or change previously uploaded essays. I've had problems getting replies to emails and phone calls in regards to these issues. One of my recommenders lost the emailed link and UT didn't get back to me for almost a week after asking them to resend it! I realize I should have made sure my essays were finalized before submitting them, but an interviewer from another school made some great recommendations on things to focus on in my essays and I want to incorporate those changes for my UT application. Is it just me!?!?! As an engineer with an interest in renewable energy and finance I LOVE their Energy Finance concentration, but I haven't been able to submit my application yet!!

I had to contact them when one of my recs did not receive the email from McCombs. I sent an email and after no response called the office (I forget what number) and the woman resent an email immediately. Unfortunately you are out of luck until Jan 4, but I would call them right away and speak to someone rather than email or leaving a message.

Icon, it's nice that we both have a solid backup plan if no other top-ranked school works out. Looking forward to finding out about schollays and attending admit weekend. To be honest, I'm glad that I'll be attending at least one admit weekend.

I totally agree. I was in your shoes last year (I'm a 1st year at McCombs) and hated the UT application. I actually cancelled an application half-way through as I thought I uploaded the wrong essay. I've complained to some students in the McCombs Admission Committee and they've agreed to bring it up to their superiors.
