I haven't heard anything about scholarships either. I guess it is a good thing no one in rd 2 has heard yet. I emailed them and they said if you don't hear anything by April 1, you can assume you are not getting one. Hopefully there will be some emails coming out within the next week!

Spring Break was last week so they should be back. Regarding round 2 scholarships, if you are facing a deadline from elsewhere you can email them and they will tell you whether you got one or not.

Hey all, from my earlier post, I called either called of these two numbers: 512-475-7391, from the e-mail "Your Application for Admission to UT Austin" after you submit your app; or the phone number from the Dean's letter on the "Application Home" page.

I remember not being able to get a person (I got the machine) like everyone else when I called the # on the website, but talked to a person with one of those.

Just to let everyone know who is still waiting - I applied to McCombs on 2/4 and just got an invitation to interview yesterday (3/23). The invitation arrived via email.

Good luck to everyone.

I emailed adcom over the weekend for an update since I didn't hear anything on the 19th, and got a response yesterday afternoon that I should have a final decision at the end of the month. No idea what that means... Well, gotta try and stay positive.

Texas is one iof the states that makes it more difficult to establish residency so you will likely not be eligible for in-state tuition...they explain the requirement on the UT website.

If I am interviewing this friday do you think I will still be considered for scholarships (provided that I am accepted)?

It seems that you may be able to establish residency for the 2nd yr... this is a big deal since the difference in tuition is something like 10-15k?

According to the UT website:
"Q. What do I need to do, or what documents do I need to fill out when I apply for Residency?
A. A prospective student must have an admission application on file before submitting the Residency Core Questions or the Residency Affadavit. Currently enrolled students may submit the Residency Core Questions once they or their parents have lived here for 11 consecutive months. "

So according to this, it seems that it is not difficult to apply for residency for the 2nd yr.... thoughts?

In order to show that you have established residency you have to be able to show that have established "roots" unrelated to school. I have been told sometimes having a spouse employed in the state may work or buying property is another option. They gave no guarantees though.

That quote is more geared for undergrads who are considered dependents of their parents while in college, thus their parents are actually the ones establishing residency...

Here is the actual form:

https://www.utexas.edu/student/admission ... ad/rcc.pdf

Their requirements are very specific for residency: you either must own property or a business in Texas or have a professional license or have been gainfully employed in the state (no, work study does not count for this) or married to a Texan for 12 months prior to enrolling....however, if you are military and you have made your state of residence TX even if you live out of the state right now you will get in-state tuition. Another option is if you are military and your home of record is TX then you qualify for the Hazelwood Act.
