Agreed. What gives? I called the admissions office yesterday about my status and talked to a girl named Rachel. She wasn't an admin person and said that all the admin people were gone this week for spring break, but she did say I should get a decision within 10-12 weeks (as the website says) from when I submit my application. I'm going on 13 weeks right now, including their Christmas/winter break, so I'm beyond anxious at this point.

On another subject, I've gotten some helpful essay review from a two guys - one at Duke and another at Columbia. Both discussed with me their essays, and now I totally feel like I failed to use my essays to express my strengths and uniqueness. Basically, I'm an architect, and have many unique characteristics that I didn't discuss because they just seemed typical to me at the time (relative to other architects). Is there a possibility of re-writing my essays or modifying them before a decision is made or if I'm placed on the waitlist?

I doubt they would allow you to re-write the essays. You could try to visit Austin and see if you can get a self-initiated interview with the ad com to convince them how much you like the school and that you're a good candidate.

In the end, if this year doesn't work out, you can re-apply for the next year. Yes, it sucks to go through the pain again, but from what I've seen about the reapplicants here at the forums, they did a lot better the second time around.

This year is tough for admissions because of the economy. Even if you are a strong candidate, there is a huge element of luck involved.

A quick question--do they ever waive out-of-staters to in-state tuition in lieu of a fellowship?

In lieu of a scholarship? Unless you're talking about that consortium thing which I know nothing about.

But yes, they do offer in-state tuition waivers. If you check the very first page of this thread you will see that at least one person received one. Basically their max package (for an out-of-stater) is $10k per year + in-state tuition, which is a pretty sweet deal.

That is a seriously sweet deal! I know someone who has that deal too...though she has her heart set on Haas or Stanford. I know I am late in the game but I hope that I might pick up a good deal if others turn down the $$ to attend elsewhere.

Drew - for what it's worth, I submitted on 12/2, so you're not alone! I'm on week 15. I was told I should hear by today, but haven't seen any movement yet.

It is quiet today. Maybe this has something to do with the devastating last-second loss to Wake Forest in the tournament yesterday? Quite likely.

Just something I've noticed, both before and after my admit. The status change notification email is always on a serious lag. E.g. When I accepted my offer on the status page, it changed immediately. The next day (16+ hours) I got an email saying my status had changed. So if you are expecting something today don't rely on notification. Refresh that tab!

Believe me, I've got a tab devoted the entire day to being refreshed. :)

I just keep saying to myself... no change is better than a ding...

I just got a call 10 mins ago from Admissions and I'm in! No mention about $$, but she said it would come in a separate call if I were to get any. They also mentioned that admitted students weekend is 4/9-10. There's hope! I applied 1/4 and just got my decision right now!

Just refreshed the browser and got waitlisted. I am not mad, but more mad that I gotta cram this week to retake the gmat! Obvisouly my score is too low. Thinking my 44 Q is fine but 30 V is too low.

Still no update. Checked the status page and it's still the same. Ha, makes me wonder if they just forgot about me...

But seriously, at this point, I'm just assuming they are holding a spot for me to lose and are waiting to see if someone else better comes a long to give it to. Why else for such a long and drawn out wait? Total confidence booster...

No update for me today either. I'm feeling the same as you, drew - a little bitter, to be honest. I'm trying to stay positive... no news is better than bad news. Still, seeing all these decisions for people that applied and interviewed over a month later than I did gives me no understanding of the rolling timeline/process. It almost feels like a clerical error or oversight is the only possible explanation.

Congrats to the latest round of admits! It's frustrating on this end, but obviously none is directed at any of you. Still hoping to join you guys! :)

would it be safe to assume that if waitlisted, decisions will go out no later than the April 9-10 admitted student week?

I don't think so because on my call they said there are only 100+ spaces at preview weekend so the whole class couldn't attend even if they wanted. Moreover, my decision deadline wasn't until April 15th so that alone says that class won't be complete until after preview weekend.

I've heard of waitlists in other disciplines lasting right up until school started. I would say they could go into summer easily.
