First congratulations to all of you have been admitted! I will be honest, I am extremely jealous.
I applied to McCombs on 12/18 and had a complete app on 12/21. I still have not heard anything back from admissions via either e-mail or online.
Has anyone who applied around my same submit date heard anything? I am still seeing the associate dean letter on the app status page.
BACKGROUND: family business
I applied around 12/5 and my app was complete on 12/21 (went to graduate review). But that was the day the school closed for the holidays. They reopened on the 4th and it has been only 1 week. I would like to think it will take at least 2 more weeks for them to read apps submitted around 12/21.
Quick random poll: How closely did everyone stick to the word limits?

In general it seems that the word limit is a guideline, you can go a bit over as long as you don't abuse it. I was over by ~10% on my essays (not for McCombs).
Looks like I will be joining a few of you on the waitlist. I got the email/status update this morning. I guess rooting for UT in the BCS game didn't help my cause!
In answer to another question asked, I was at or right under the word limit for all of my essays.
My GIAC material status just changed to "We have received all credentials required to process your application. Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review."
I would imagine that I will hear if I get an invite by end of the week. Wish me luck!
I wouldn't get your hopes up. If you check this board often you will see that interview invites have taken quite a while in some cases. Question for you though SoulLive04, how long after you sent your transcripts did it take McCombs to note them received.

Mine has stated that for a while now I'm pretty sure. I wonder if I should give them a call? Just FYI, I uploaded my materials 11/30, last recommendation was submitted 12/17. Everything is in.
This is really making me think I got a ding. Not a good sign.
So they wouldn't start reviewing your application until 12/18, which is around the time they went on break. So really, its only been about 18 working days where your application has been available. It seems pretty early to start panicking, IMO.
12/17 was the day that they shut down for the holiday break at the McCombs admissions office, so you're pretty much equivalent to someone who submitted their stuff on 1/3. I wouldn't worry yet.
I would think that the decision to interview is likely based mostly on very 'shallow' and easy to discern metrics, and if you have a 680 GMAT you'll likely get interviewed.
