Received my interview invite this morning. Looks like our speculation was correct! (All materials received 12/17).
Same here - received the invite at 4am Pacific. Materials also received 12/17, app was submitted 12/1. :)

hey guys i'm an R2 app - submitted 1/10, file complete 1/19, interview invite 1/23. i'm from out of town and have never been to austin. any thoughts on interviewing locally or on campus?
Would love any Texas interview tips here as well. I've elected for an on-campus one which looks like it will probably be with a 2nd year student.

Hi Everyone,

I just found this thread today and I've really enjoyed reading the posts. I submitted my App Jan 15th and got my interview invite at 6:12am CST Jan 23rd. I can't decide if I want to go to Austin for the interview or stay in Dallas and interview with an Alumni. I'm not sure how I feel about interviewing with a 2nd Year student so I'm leaning towards the Alumni.

Profile
WE - 4.8 years at Matriculation (IT Services Sales)
GPA - 3.2 in EE @UT
GMAT - 730
EC - Dallas Texas Exes Board member 2010, President of DFW IT Professionals User Group, and Toastmasters

Also, Is every admit interviewed or do people get accepted without interviews as well?

Damn, having to mail my transcripts is really putting me at a disadvantage. I overnighted them the 14th but everything else was complete the 15th and I'm guessing I won't hear about an interview until February....blast!

congratulations to those who receive an IV invite.
My status says We've received your application and are currently reviewing it.
However, one of my recommendation and official transcipts are seen as missing on the same page! I have sent them with a courier.
What you think? shall I call them ? or just wait?

Since Texas is rolling admissions, is there an advantage for interviewing as quickly as possible? I would like to visit the campus/Austin since I've heard such great things but I prob cant make it out there until Feb 26th (I live in DC) . Would the safer bet be to interview with an alumni in the DC area sooner rather than waiting to interview in Austin later?

You should interview as early as possible. Your application isn't ready for review until after they get the feedback from the alumni or from the interviewer on campus. Given that (according to the web site for alumni interviewers) they have ~2 weeks to submit feedback, if the amount of time between when you could interview in person on campus and with an alumni exceeds about two weeks, do the alumni interview.

I'm in DC, did my interview with an alumni here and I thought it went great. I visited the campus in October and got a great day visit, lunch with students and visited two classes. If you can't swing a visit and an interview I'd recommend interviewing with an alumni here and then visiting later. PM me if you want to know who i registered with. He's a great guy, very active in the DC alumni group and has been at every McCombs function I've been to in DC since '08.

I just received my interview invite a few days ago and will be interviewing off-campus with an alum since I have already visited campus. Any suggestions on how to go about selecting your interviewer? Should I go for someone who is in a similar industry/position that I hope to be in post MBA? Any thoughts from others who also did off campus interviews?

Yes, I would try to target someone who is in your post-grad target industry as it will lead to better follow-up questions like "how did McCombs enable you to get here" or "what is recruiting like at McCombs in this industry" etc.

On another note, any R1 people still not heard back?
