I got a small fellowship...definitely wasn't expecting that.

I never thought USC would be one of my cheaper options...

Guys,

Quick advice needed:

I got a 620 on my GMAT - took it last week.

Have a good undergraduate and graduate GPA. Did my MS in engineering from USC. Have good letters of recommendation. My wife is a full time MBA student at Marshall as well.

Planning to apply to Round 4 for MBA. PM (the fully emplyed MBA).

Do you all think I stand a chance?

Thanks.

I think the GMAT requirement for the PM is considerably lower than the full time. I would give it a shot.

Absolutely apply. You should be a lock to get in.
You do realize your 620 is ABOVE the average for the PM program?

The median GMAT for the MBA.PM was 610 for their latest class (according to the Marshall site), so yea, I think you're fine. Definitely apply and good luck!

I could use some advice...

I was waitlisted at USC, and it is my top choice. However, I received good scholarships at SMU and Indiana covering 90-95% of my tuition. I was wondering if I should let AdCom at Marshall know this? Something to strengthen my application?

I don't think it would hurt your application. Whether or not it will strengthen it is another matter.

The way a lot of wait lists work is that the Admissions Committee knows based on historical data the number and type of applicants that A) it will admit and B) will matriculate vs. turn down their admissions offer. Based on that, your wait list position is likely tied to whether or not a certain number of accepted applicants from your similar background demographic end up matriculating or not. I think your likelihood of receiving an offer off of the wait list is much more likely related to that rather than whether or not other schools are offering your a spot.

However, I think it can't hurt to still let USC know your offers at the other schools, as well as the fact that USC remains your number one choice. I would think, then, that in the event that a spot in your demographic opens up, you might be at or near the top of the list to be made on offer, since USC knows you're likely to accept it.

I would agree that reinforcing that USC is still your top choice, even with the offers and scholarships you have, couldn't hurt.

I'd have to agree. I think USC loses some points with the PT program.

I applied in round 3, and I just received an interview invitation. Thought other round 3 applicants would like to know that interview invitations appear to be going out now.

I'm a R3 applicant.I'm an international student.

I just received my interview invitation letter. From your experience which one is better? on-campus interview or off-campus?
The email said that they prefer to do the on-campus, but I don't think I can make it.
Need your suggestions. Thank you.

On-campus is always better if possible (especially for you since you'll get to see the location, campus, facilities, students, culture, etc.), but since you're an international candidate, I'm sure the adcom would understand if you couldn't make it.

I think the preference for on-campus interviews is mostly for more local candidates. Just don't forget to dress up for the Skype interview!

taken from: accepted(dot)com/chat/transcripts/2011/mba02022011_usc(dot)aspx

Michael Fowler: We do offer a variety of different ways that you can look into the interview. We always recommend that if possible, you come to campus because it's a great experience. You can also participate in our Ambassador Program in addition to the interview and that is always a welcome environment. We also offer Skype for those of you who cannot make it to campus. Whether you are outside of the country or from a different state or your travel schedule just does not allow you to, we prefer Skype. For a select few individuals from different countries where Skype is banned, then we will accommodate you with a phone interview. But for everybody else where Skype is available, that is what we prefer if you are not coming to campus for an actual interview.

For the MBA.PM program, I know a lot of graduate and current students in that program. It is definitely a much easier program to get into. Some admitted with GMAT scores less than 600. I think you'd definitely stand a chance.
