Hi,

I received an email about Vandy visiting Boston MBA Fair and the email proposed candidates (whatever leg of application process they are) to schedule an evaluative interview. I applied in R2 but guess my dismal score of 660 and a weak work profile are reasons to no response from the Adcoms. I did not get a proper interview invite and as I learn from this forum. R2 applicants had their interviews and admits long before the Christmas break. I am little disheartened!

Please advise if holding an evaluative interview is any good? Is it advisable in my case to schedule an interview? and has there been any admits after evaluative interview? All inputs invited?

Owen call all of their interviews 'evaluative interview'. Even I had received invitation for evaluative interview when Owen visited India, (I had not submitted my application at this point). However I could schedule that interview. Later after submitting application I received request to schedule interview, again.

I would suggest, don't look too much into 'signs'. If you think your profile is weak, look at this interview as opportunity to improve your candidacy and take this interview. You don't have anything to lose by scheduling an interview.

From what I know, Owen will be continuously sending interview invites and admits till 20 Jan. So don't get disheartened, I am still waiting for my decision.

Thanks a ton, alpeshvc!
So have you been interviewed? Vandy is very competitive and they require a score of 700 and above for Indian students so had self-doubts. I will drop a mail requesting to schedule an evaluative interview on Vandy's Boston MBA trip.

Good luck for your apps :)

At Owen, evaluative interviews ARE admission interviews. You can be interviewed either before or after you submt an application.

Drop them an email now and say you are interested in an evaluative interview to see if there are any spots left. As far as I know they only have few slots open before the fair opens. Don't get disheartened if they say they can't give you an interview for any reason - they pretty much rejected me the first time I made the request because they thought my candidacy wasn't strong enough (this was before I submitted my application) and almost rejected me again the second time because there was
no slot left, but in the end they admitted me. So good luck and let us know how it goes :)

Super Super Excited !!!! Got a call yesterday that I am in.....Ehhhaaaaaaaaaa!!!
But in all the excitement I forgot to ask about the Scholarship. The adcom associate did mention that they dispatched the package with all the details. My owen page just shows admitted. How about the rest of you? How were the ones who did receive scholarship notified?

And Kprizzle I would want your input on apartments I should be looking at?

Is anyone coming for the April 13-14 weeekend?

Anyone from East side of US? I stay in Boston.

I've just received an email with the title "Vanderbilt MBA Application Status: Interview Invitation" with these lines:
"Regardless of your stage in the application process, we suggest that you schedule your evaluative interview. An evaluative interview with a member of the Admissions Committee is required of all applicants to complete the application."
I've finished my online application for the Jan 16 deadline except one of my recommenders has not submitted his recommendation yet. Am I late for this deadline?
Is this letter a normal interview invitation?
Many thanks

Yes, this is a normal interview invitation letter. I know the language is ambiguous.
If you have received invite, I don't think you are late for deadline.
