Hi all, just want to get some quick opinions on the "Where in your background would we find evidence of your leadership capacity and/or potential? (500 words)" re-app essay.

Do you think I should write about only 1 example, or should I write about multiple examples (like 1 work and 1 extra-curric and 1 college, or 3 work, or some other combo)?

Thanks.

Question for the outsider essay: when I was a kid I travelled a lot, having to adapt to different cultures every time. Could I take this as subject, or is this too old? I geniunely did have an impact on me, but I'm afraid that it might be too old...

Thanks for your help guys!

Of course you can. You just have to show that it did indeed have an impact on the person you are today. That will work beautifully. Just be clear and make sure you make the connections between the experiences in your past, and your thought process/viewpoints/behavior today.

Guys what you have chosen for your 3rd essay - A, B or C - and why?

Quote:
There are 2 definitions (A & B are similar) of outsider possible:

A) One who is excluded from a party, association, or set.
B) One who is isolated or detached from the activities or concerns of his or her own community.
C) A contestant given little chance of winning; a long shot

i find c to be very interesting... i doubt many applicants went with the definition in c. ill bet you would raise some eyebrows (in a good way) if you have a good story for c.

I was a long shot to win my school's spelling bee in 5th grade and I won. Can I use that story?

I went A because I felt I had a very good story to share.

I would myself choose A or B. But what are the examples of A and B?

I do not completely understand the meaning of "excluded from" (does it mean - "black sheep" or smth like that?); then - "isolated or detached from the activities or concerns of his or her own community" (does it mean - the community does not want me within?).

I want to write about overcoming resistence of another party (enemy company). Will it fit the context of the question?

Nick, it may if you can highlight how your perceptions/methods/goals differed from the norms of either your group or the company. More than that I think this essay really calls for showing how you clearly were at odds with an established dynamic, how you adjusted and overcame obstacles and lessons learned. 10 days to go...

i think youd score double points for using option c... youd be an outsider from everybody else doing a/b

Guys,

Anther issue: I've got a failure subject. Only "slight" problem is that it's very old - it's from end 1998 (9 years ago). I was a 20 years old student then. Not repsecting the 5 year rule, is that going to kill me?

Yup shouldn't be a problem as long as you really tie in the lessons you learned to your recent achievements.

anybody following the s2s discussions? seems like there was some glitch on AY, where a bunch of people who logged in today saw a DENY message, which was later removed
