he he! Yeah man, it's not even 24 hours since I finished the interview and already, the wait sucks.

Hi KK,

Was your interviewer with the initials of MY? I have my interivew sceduled at the Mumbai HUB and I am fairly certain that they have the same person interviewing.

I have been told that all WH interview are blinds? Did the Ad-Com seem to have any insights into your essays at all? (I know, I am probably being over paranoid)

Good luck!

MY is a very nice person, I talked to her during a reception in Moscow and she was extremely friendly.

I agree with helg, I met her at the hub interviews in Bangalore. She is really nice and from what I gathered she asks straightforward questions that are to the point.

guys need some help, especially from the R1'ers. I was trying to chose a set of stories for the three non-goals essays. I have an interesting experience at work that I would like to use for the outsider essay and then plan on writing the leadership one for essay 4 which would mainly highlight my extracurricular and collegiate leadership roles. What would you guys recommend for essay 3 (the failure?)- something work related or EC/outside of work related? Is there a 'ratio' or mix that is recommended?

Thanks!

dosa,

Here was my breakdown:

Essay 1: standard goals
Essay 2: failure: first semester of college (and a whole long story of how that led to my eventual major and current career)
Essay 3: outsider: moving to India to work, mostly personal stuff
Essay 4: leadership: used three examples with one theme, one from work, one from college, and one extra

My take on the essays was that Wharton was really trying to get a lot of personal info. I used essay 1 to write the standard why wharton why mba look at my career stuff. Essays 2 and 3 were to show off my personality and development and Essay 4 was to show leadership ability across different scenarios. So my mix was 1 work, 2 EC/outside and 1 mix.

I had my interview this afternoon and it feels like a month already!

The questions asked:

- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your goals?
- Why MBA, Why Wharton?
- Contribution
- Weakness
- In addition to what we talked about, what else would you like our Admission Committee to know?

The interview was very conversational AND personal. I felt that my interviewer did not follow any structure, he just asked me the things that he was curious about. For example, when I gave my story on 'Tell me about yourself', he interrupted me and asked to explain [a sub-branch in engineering]. I also got questions like 'How many siblings do you have?', 'What high school did I go to?', 'What do your parents do?', 'Where are your brothers?', What are they doing now?'.

Even 'Why do you think your company choose to have its regional office here?'.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), my brother is studying MBA at a M7 school, but not at Wharton. So I had no choice when I was asked 'What are your brothers doing now?' but to tell him. Then I tried to defend why I think Wharton is my best fit. During this question, he also asked me 'How many [country] students at the M7 school?'. To be honest I had no idea and I wasn't expecting such question, so I told him a number and said I wasn't sure, just based on my general feelings. He was surprised by the number so my guess was probably wrong.

The interview was exactly 30 mins. My slot was booked for 45 mins and so I was very surprised (I thought I had bombed the interview). But I found out from my friend who also interviewed today that his was also 30 mins on dot. From what I have read, HUB interviews are usually 30 mins anyway, so I don't worry about it anymore. In the end, I didn't even get to ask my questions since there was no time.

Right now, I have mix feelings about my performance. I guess there is really no way to find out until Dec. 20. In the mean time, my pain for waiting will surely multiply.

BCC, Congrats on finishing your interview! Don't stress I think everyone feels that way after interviews. The question about the # of students at M7s was strange. All the interviews are 30 minutes or so, the 45 minute time slot is to give the interviewer time to write down comments and such. 2 Weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

13 days now! Anyone else freaked out? Doesn't help that I am superstitious and 13 is an unlucky number. Please no black cats, cracks in sidewalks, mirrors and ladders. I don't need anymore bad luck.
