I had my interview this afternoon and it feels like a month already!
The questions asked:
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your goals?
- Why MBA, Why Wharton?
- Contribution
- Weakness
- In addition to what we talked about, what else would you like our Admission Committee to know?
The interview was very conversational AND personal. I felt that my interviewer did not follow any structure, he just asked me the things that he was curious about. For example, when I gave my story on 'Tell me about yourself', he interrupted me and asked to explain [a sub-branch in engineering]. I also got questions like 'How many siblings do you have?', 'What high school did I go to?', 'What do your parents do?', 'Where are your brothers?', What are they doing now?'.
Even 'Why do you think your company choose to have its regional office here?'.
Unfortunately (or fortunately), my brother is studying MBA at a M7 school, but not at Wharton. So I had no choice when I was asked 'What are your brothers doing now?' but to tell him. Then I tried to defend why I think Wharton is my best fit. During this question, he also asked me 'How many [country] students at the M7 school?'. To be honest I had no idea and I wasn't expecting such question, so I told him a number and said I wasn't sure, just based on my general feelings. He was surprised by the number so my guess was probably wrong.
The interview was exactly 30 mins. My slot was booked for 45 mins and so I was very surprised (I thought I had bombed the interview). But I found out from my friend who also interviewed today that his was also 30 mins on dot. From what I have read, HUB interviews are usually 30 mins anyway, so I don't worry about it anymore. In the end, I didn't even get to ask my questions since there was no time.
Right now, I have mix feelings about my performance. I guess there is really no way to find out until Dec. 20. In the mean time, my pain for waiting will surely multiply.
