Hi guys I am putting together my application for Wharton. I am just wondering if there are any kind souls out there who would review my essays.

I have one doubt. If the word limit of essay is 500 words but I can write my essay in 350 is that considered a negative.

IMO, if you feel that 350 words is already 'complete' then be it. However, remember that the other 150 words is your opportunity to impress the adcom and/or tell the adcom more about yourself so why waste them?

Feeling like this week could be either awesome or awful. Tired of being this anxious.

Do you know if they have started calling people before the day (like Chicago) in the past or is it only the morning of the date?

I take it from s2s forum that they release all the decisions on the D-Day.

Waiting, checking, thinking ... W can put me to peace. There is a K event on Thurs night that I am attending, which where I live is around the time W will start sending out decisions. So I am sure I will be checking my email for W while at the event! Secretly checking of course. :-D

Does W call up its admitted students like K does? - as in, even before the status is updated on the website?

Since they release all decisions during one day, they do not call ALL admitted applicants. They call some, but still many people learn the happy news through emails and through the updated status of their online apps. At least that's how it was last year.

Whartonees,

What do you think about mentioning in the essays some alumni whom I did not meet?

The thing is that there is a Wharton alumni from my country whose path is very similar to mine (career changer from the same industry, even from my undergrad university and faculty). I have sent to him an email but have not got a response.

In this case is it possible to say in the essay "I am confident in my pursuit because of many successful examples of "industry workers" making a transition through your MBA. For example, Mr. Alumni, a former industry worker, graduated from your school and now works in one of the ...... "?

If you mention him/her as an example of a person using the Wharton experience to achieve success in your chosen field then it is ok. If you are going to imply that you met them or such then no. Better yet reach out to them, explain yourself and your goals...who knows they may even say make sure to refer to me in your essay. That's what happened to me.
