This new program..is in a nutshell means more emphasis on quant as if it wasnt already a very quant heavy course!

the program will emphasize more in economics and stats.. as if I already havent had enough of MGEC.. but i think it makes sense to ground the managers in basic econ and quant tools ...especially as the age of the incoming class gets younger

What is that expected to be in effect? Would that affect this year's admission or next?

Thanks!

The two-year self-analysis and coaching experience in leadership is pretty interesting. Reminds me of the more touchy-feely classes offered at Stanford and Haas, but I'm sure it'll have Wharton's particular analytical touch. The six "pathways" are also pretty interesting, since it indicates what areas Wharton considers to be most important for their students to know.

I wonder whether the tuition for Wharton's MBA program will increase, given that they will offer "free" executive education once every seven years...

Count me in for R2
I have a question though...for the first of Wharton's optional essays, asking you to design a class, my essay is ~600 words. Is it bad not to have close to 700 words? Will that adversely affect the review of my application? I just don't think I have anything else to say....

Just wanted to point out that Booth actually offers alumni classes (up to 3 max) tuition-free:

Similar to last year, calls (mainly for admits w/ fellowships or $$) may come in a day prior, but obviously, that's only a select few.

I believe everyone else received the email at 1:45 EST (or 12:45 EST) last year. Browse through the "Calling all Wharton 2010" thread.

Now I am looking at all the apps that I have completed, and I felt that Wharton is the most efficient and effective school out of all these top b-schools.

Why? Because it sets up a specific dates for interview release, decisions, etc.

Other schools, such as MIT and Columbia are giving you this kind of rolling admission process - " Oh, you will probably hear in 8 - 12 weeks time frame", "Oh, we will start releasing interview invite in mid-Dec but hey guess what, we lied about it and relase now."

I might be ranting too much, but at least for Wharton I know I can channel my energy to working on something more productive rather than refreshing and clicking my e-mail inbox 20 or 30 times per day.

Just my 2 cents.

Few people know, but Wharton students pay about 50% of the overall cost of education. The rest is covered by the endowment and other funds. If one gets a scholarship, then the burden is shifted even further onto the school.

So in effect, Wharton has been offering a large portion of the service for free.

On the other hand, tuition has been steadily increasing for the past several years, so I would expect it to inch upward regardless of the curricular innovations.

They may as well start one day earlier. That was certainly my case in 2008. Admissions called one day earlier than was indicated in the email.

Keep in mind that the Earth is unfortunately not flat, though, and the 17th in Philadelphia is already the 18th in Tokyo. Therefore, it is perfectly fine for the school to start releasing decisions on the 16th EST, at least for the international applicants.

That's how I seriously feel as well. I can imagine that this (along with wedding day, delivery of your baby, etc.) are marking moments of your life.

I think they fixed this by rd2 last year, so hopefully this issue won't reoccur.
