do you R1 WL WL view this as good that ours says periodically? or does it mean that since they have seen our app twice now that it is easier for them to ding us?

to the rewaitlisters,

did you actually get an email on the r2 notification date telling you that your app status was updated? or did it not change?

yes we got a different letter

it seems as though the R1 people that were waitlisted again in R2 have "periodically" and the people that applied in R2 and were waitlisted do not have that.

Not really sure what it means, if anything and whether it is good or bad for us R1 re-waitlsiters.

I don't even remember the essays since I submitted my app so long ago. Were essays a required part of the application? Maybe that's why a decision hasn't been made on my app : )

No it was the 1st optional essay. I thought it was a strange essay prompt and perhaps, I should have stayed away from it

No need to beat yourself up over it at this point. If anything, that prompt screamed "answer this because it's super unique to Wharton so we'll know that you're not just re-packaging crap from your other schools". In my mind, it helped show just a little bit more that you really wanted to go there.

Now they're testing you again, but w/ the waitlist :P

after reading last year's thread, unfortunately i have to agree. i almost wish wharton just rejected me. it would have hurt more but then, i would have been working on closure. but, they have an annoying habit of waitlisting a ton of people cruelly and dare i say, unfairly.

Someone I know had got the final decision while he was attending classes in Harvard last year:/ I want to imagine that being waitlisted twice is a positive sign, but apparently Wharton is tad cruel in this respect and there's always a huge waitlist...

Congrats! though it's a bit strange that they accept additional material after specifically mentioning otherwise in the decision letters...anyhow good going zorro!

Zorro / Kumavi Congrats!

Did you guys do anything since the waitlist decisions (follow-up letters, extra letters of support?). And congrats again!

Thank you!! Still shaking from the call.

Yes, I got two additional letters/phone calls of support from (somewhat distant) contacts who were connected to the school. They mentioned that Wharton was my first choice, which may have been particularly relevant because I have a strong family connection to another top school.

Stats:
Strengths - 770 GMAT, 3.85 u/g GPA (liberal arts major), thought Wharton essays were my best
Weaknesses - 6 month gap in employment, messed up one interview question, took GMAT 3 times

Quoted from the email Wharton sent me:

"We will be reviewing your application each round and will contact you no later than Thursday, 12 May, 2011 with an update as to your status"

Do "each round" and "periodically" differ? I get what they mean is that those waitlisted from previous round are judged against potentially admitted applicants in the next round.

Jerry are you an R1 or R2 waitlister?

I would assume that all R1 waitlisters that were re-waitlisted in R2 got periodically because they have seen our applications so many times now that its easier to make decisions prior to May 12th as people drop out.

Nah i think it's nothing but semantics. meaning they both mean the same thing. our apps will be reviewed again along with r3 apps.
