I just got back from my interview at Wharton, and I think it went very well! As I was leaving the campus, I was thinking that it couldn't have gone better, to be honest. But, as I always do once I have time to think about it, I start wondering whether there were certain areas I could have provided more information on, or provided better examples. Still, despite my incessant overanalyzation, the meeting was quite enjoyable. The student who interviewed me was very easy to talk with, and I think we developed excellent rapport. I wish everybody the best of luck during their interviews.

Hmm, I'm not certain. I scheduled my interview with the admissions committee on campus.

I would wait 2-3 days. My interviewer responded after 2 days. I assume most of these guys are busy / travelling.

Huh, that's tough... My interviewer responded in a matter of minutes. I'm not sure that full hour passed between my mail and response. I hope he'll be so proffessional when it comes to the real deal :?

It depends on the interviewer. I have my interview tomorrow. A bit anxious about it.

Business Week screwed up big time:
https://images.businessweek.com/ss/08/11 ... ols/31.htm

This alone justifies Wharton's and Harvard's refusal to participate in rankings of any sort. This year Wharton is ranked 4th and HBS - 2nd. Not bad for schools who do not provide any data at all! It is like getting a medal in an Olympic competition for watching it on TV.

Plus, unless we have the exact same building, the photo they put for Vanderbilt is actually... Huntsman Hall at Wharton! :-D

Yeah! That's what I am saying - if these guys can't even get the photo of the school right, there is little credibility to their rankings because they are not COMPLETELY thorough, hence the decision to avoid all these rankings is correct because neither Wharton nor Harvard subject their brands to the influence of BW analysts and editors whose meticulousness is questionable.

Isn't BW ranking mostly based on student and recruiter surveys, rather than school data? Obviously some of your classmates and recruiters provided feedback to BW for them to come up with their rankings.

I just got back from my interview and thought it went pretty well. I think the questions are pretty standard since they only have your CV to go off of. (Why Wharton? Why MBA? Why now?)

We actually didn't cover a lot of questions I thought were "standard" though: namely, strengths/weaknesses, accomplishments/challenges, etc.

For me, I was an early career candidate so we focused a bit of time on how I could still contribute to the classroom outside of just WEXP. Additionally, spent a lot of time on short and long-term goals.

Good luck!

I had my interview today.

It was friendly but detailed. Questions included:

i) Walk me through you resume
ii) Short-term and long-term goals?
iii) Why MBA? Why Wharton?
iv) What extracurricular activities will you participate in?
v) What do you think about outsourcing jobs to India? --- we were talking about globalization and international economy at that point.
vi) Do you enjoy working in teams?
vii) Have you been to Philly?
viii) What other schools are you applying to?

I guess besides the last question, I did very well in all parts. The interviewer said I will be a strong applicant.

My advice to everyone is to practice (i) your story / goals, (ii) why MBA, why Wharton, and (iii) how will you contribute/differentiate really well. These seem to be the most important questions. The other questions can vary from person to person.

Goodluck to all!

Classic interview, no tough question. If even the interviewer said you were a strong applicant, it should be in the pocket. Looks like I'll be seeing you next year, congrats! (unless you sell your soul to HBS or Stanford).
