In my opinion, Wharton did take it's top picks from the waitlist on a one-off basis between r2 deposit deadline and now. They are delaying the decision on everyone else and re-waitlisting us. I suspect they will use the next few weeks to review the waitlist again (since there are no more round decisions to make) and will start trimming periodically until the summer waitlist is shaped. All we can do is wait and see. The interesting part will come tomorrow, when r3 decisions come out. I wonder how many r3 people will be waitlisted.

I hope those of us who know they can't wait any longer will notify the adcom promptly.

Wow, if my quick count is correct, 17 of the 18 R1 & R2 waitlisters on this forum have been put back on the waitlist (the other applicant received a ding). Something seem weird to anyone?

I see some R3 are out. Waitlists there as well (bw forums). All my theories for a toss. Oh well.

Waitlisted again!

This really is strange...why do they continue to keep so many people on the waitlist? Are they not sure that people who have paid deposits will turn up eventually? Have a lot of admitted students asked for extensions on the deposit deadline? Was R3 this year so huge that they could not review all the waitlisted applications before the May 14 deadline and so have re-waitlisted most of us till June 11?

What does everyone think? I'm sure we can figure this out if we put our minds together!

My 'decision available' link disappeared this afternoon, and re-appeared an hr later with just one change: May 14th pushed back to June 11.

Donno what to feel, glad in a way it's not a ding, but OTOH feeling a little disappointed.

Not sure if anger, sadness or contempt is the right emotion to describe it....but I guess like many of the WLers, I'm feeling a little bit of each.

I don't seem to understand why such a big waitlist? I am not convinced about the yield argument. If Wharton already admitted people it really wanted then presumably these are people with strong profiles and hence would have admits from other places and more likely to decline the offer. While those on waitlist like me dont have an offer that will top Wharton admit and will happily take it...even on June 11th. So by wailisting more students Wharton can improve yield doesnt sound right to me aleast. If the waitlist is a backup for people from R3 who might decline then aweful lot of us waitlisters will be disappointed.

wonder what adcom is thinking, i am sure they have a very good reason for the big waitlist...

It may just look like a longer than usual waitlist but it may not be. Check out the stats from last year at GMATClub(calling-all-wharton-fall-09-applicants-66548.html). WL is almost always a crapshoot -- 2 from 2009-R1 got in, and none from 2009-R2. Given that in 2010, we have ~80 applicants in R1 (14WL) and ~170 in R2 (~37WL), it seems proportional. I expect that around 4 WListers from R1 got in. For us R2 WListers, we'll just have to wait and watch.

I guess they haven't rejected any of the R2 waitlisters... they've just extended the waitlist until June 11. Ridiculous
