Thank you guys! I really appreciate it.

I have no clue right now what to do. There is the 40k from Ross, but then there is Berkeley's tech focus, proximity to the Valley, better weather and the brand name, that is just way bigger in my home country. (plus, when I started out on this journey Haas was always the dream school - I couldnt even really tell you why exactly)

Any advice? I will wait for the other two decisions, Kellogg could still sway me. If Kellogg offers $$ it will definitely pull me away from Haas. Would you guys let Haas know that you received $ from other schools?

What's Haas' policy on Scholarships? Do they tell you right away whether you are going to get one or do you have to wait? It might make your decision easier.

I was under the assumption that yes, but actually mainly because on the BW forum there are people who already know they got one. Does anyone know?

Congrats branson ! Awesome job.

If you are interested in tech mgmt, I would rate Haas better....with great connections to Silicon Valley. I must admit though that Kellogg isn't too far behind as it has amazing faculty strength in Tech Marketing. Kellogg is also well-known in most parts of the world, if you plan to work outside US. I am not sure if Haas brand carries as much value outside the US.

Good luck to all the others waiting anxiously for the 510- call.

Haas has been actively rebranding the "Berkeley MBA" since Berkeley has more name recognition around the world.

They actually did the same thing for their law school recently - The Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley will be rebranded as Berkeley Law.

Guess The Berkeley School of Business can't be far behind!

CONGRATS branson! You're the first to crack the Haas nut this year.

Definitely choose Haas if you want to do tech, but like everyone said, Ross and Kellogg are also strong schools. In the end, you really need to go to the admit weekends of each and FEEL the culture. Learn more about each school now that you're an admitted student (they'll be kissing up to you endlessly now and open up a bunch of new info that prospective students cannot get) and see which one fits you best. In the end, the $$$ shouldn't matter as much as your career (which will probably dwarf the $40k in the long run). Of course, if two schools are identical in your mind, then the $$$ will be the tie breaker.

I really hope to be able to join you at DAH to convince you personally to choose Haas, hahahah :P

BTW, mba2010 is right, the Haas brand name is now much stronger internationally in Asia. In Europe it still has some ways to go, but UC Berkeley is NOT a shabby name as far as the whole university goes (which is probably why they call Boalt "Berkeley Law" now...). I wonder if this Mr. "Boalt" is pissed at the name change...

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG........ :hair

Just got the call from Pete Johnson, I'm IN!!! (with 1/2 tuition scholarship for both years)

I had to run outside of the office to speak more "freely" (and get better reception), but it was a good conversation and perfect since I'm heading up to Berkeley for recruiting on Wednesday, so I'll swing by and say hi.

Anyway, the convo lasted about 8 minutes, with some details about things coming up like alumni events, admit events, etc... I was just stuttering like an idiot saying "thank you, uh huh, thank you, thank you..." :P

Wow... this is probably the happiest admit for me (especially coming after the Stanford ding), and I was truly nervous when Pete started to call people this afternoon. I'm glad it's finally over...

Thank you all at GMATClub for your constant support (and PMs/emails) throughout this process. There is no way I could have done all this without your camaraderie, advice, reviews, critiques, and shared pain (and happiness). I owe it to y'all!

Good luck to all the others here, I WANT to see you at Days at Haas in April, a'ight?! :)
