I just reread the Chicago invite and have a question for those of you have been invited to interview (or for anyone else, for that matter) :) . The instructions say "If possible, we highly encourage all applicants to interview on campus. Later it says "All interviews, regardless of the interviewer, are weighted the same."

I know this has been discussed before, but there seems to be some mild contradiction here. Is it really better to interview on campus? If not, then why do they encourage people to interview on campus? I am sure they want people to visit the school (I have heard the recent campus improvements are awesome), but this seems like an awkward place to state that desire.

I would like to go to campus, but I have limited vacation days left. I used one of my two weeks to write my apps and I am going to use the second week to take my girl friend on a trip to China to thank her for putting up with me during this process. :o So if I can avoid going to campus without having it affect my app decision, so much the better. Otherwise I may have to call in sick (oops...) or do a weekend interview.

Congrats everyone on their invites. For the rest of you, hang in there -- this whole thing is pretty random. A lot people on here have great profiles, so I have no doubt that many of you will get invites.

i remember the response to this on the chicago forums was that they encourage you to visit campus, as you stated. they are still weighted the same.

I have decided to interview on campus. I am thinking I will go the 22nd, but I am worried that getting an invite on the first day and then scheduling an interview for later on in the interview window will look bad. Gosh this process makes you paranoid.

Well, so I read it like what matters to you is not the improvement in school system but that YOU do it.

Sorry Praet, I sometimes can't restarin myself from making these reactions.

This was actually much better than your earlier attempt. :)

Maybe I am not communicating this clearly enough -- It is helpful to keep the focus on community - Ask yourself - Can I help prodigy with her question? If no - then I should stay away from making any comments. Neither should we laugh at anyone's dreams nor should we judge anyone's ideas. It is not constructive.

If you absolutely had to comment, a good response would be have been: " I am sorry if I misunderstood you,but I got the impression that ......... "

We either believe in helping each other or we don't. It is really up to us to see the value of community.

My app went complete today!
:banana
A small celebration is in order, after a few days of nailgnawing, while my official transcript was in transit...

The wait now seems a small price to pay :-D

Are applicants required to send the official transcript before they get an interview invite?

No. But you need to send them if you do get invited

I hope so too BSD. I applied to 7 R2 schools and haven't received an invite yet. Hoping the ice will break soon.

Not that this is related to anything, but how many more posts until I pass intern status? :P

One more I think - One of the best ways to get your post # up is by contributing to the GMAT test related boards.

Hang in there - you will those invites soon.

Oops I committed a mistake. While I was trying to schedule my interview I mistakenly searched for another location. Now the system does not allow me to search again for an alumni in my location in Singapore. Does anybody have any idea what to do.

Good luck to all of you guys with your interviews!

Mine is coming up this Monday! I am interviewing with an alum in Starbucks. It seems that New Yorkers love to interview in coffee houses - the only other off-campus alumni interview I had (Kellogg) was conducted in Starbucks too.
I hope this one is going to go as well as my Kellogg interview did!
I will post my debrief with questions asked Monday/Tuesday night.
