Sanjuro,
It's a good question.. I'm on that boat where my preferred option would be Jan-13. I still haven't made up my mind yet whether I will apply to Sept12 R3 or Jan2013 R1.

My thinking is the following: the other programs I'm applying to start in Sept2012, so in a sense the "competition" is happening now. To turn down other offers now would mean putting all my faith into getting in INSEAD for Jan2013.

On the flip side, I am assuming that I have better chances to get in AND to get scholarship applying to R1 Jan2013 than R3 Sept2012.

Thoughts? Does anyone know if it's possible to apply to R3 Sept2012 (you might get lucky and they need to "fill their diversity quotas") but somehow tell them that you are flexible for either intake?

Believe me, I know all about round 3- applied in r3 of the January 2012 intake and got dinged after hanging on the waitlist till classes started. My R3 experience was nightmarish- about 490 seats were offered before R3 even started.

September R3 may be appealing for two reasons:

1) The January intake has a higher yield (a higher percentage of the admitted applicants actually choose to attend). The reason for this lays in the fact that very few top MBA programs start around January. This means that in January the competition for every place is mush stronger.
2) The January intake offers an internship program, which makes it even more appealing, and thus, more competitive.

In other words, the September intake may offer the ones who do not conform with all the characteristics of a dream applicant (I will turn 35 in few months) a higher chance.

Heya,

Has anyone who submitted their scholarship application able to login to the INSEAD scholarship portal?

https://mba.insead.edu/schlmgmt/index.cf ... gin&show=1

I tried logging in to track my status and for some reason it doesn't seem to work... weird :? .

Hi,

I tried today and managed to login - though no updates in the status, it still only says "Application Received".

Thanks, enkie.
Is that the number of students who will actually matriculate?
Or is there any chance that any of them will go to a U.S. school?
Round 2 decisions for U.S. top schools are being made soon.

Thats the number of Japanese candidates that have been offered a place so far, whether this is the amount of people that will accept the offer is another story. This number will be confirmed after the 23rd of March. So yeah, some of them may decline the offer and go to another school.

I visited INSEAD both campuses and talked with many faculty members, alumni, and with admission people and asked them particularly about this issue, 4 months is not that difference if it increases the opportunity of acceptance, However, they clearly showed me that It makes no difference at all. may be because of my background or they are just right.

@oneyearmba - thanks for your note. I am past that point of debating which round to apply. The way I see it, most of their statistics is annual (that is takes into account both promotions). So, if they are, say, at capacity for one promotion and they get this decent application, they will rather go ahead and take her and then perhaps reduce the class size the next promotion.

Since you have visited both campuses, I will definitely be interested to hear what you observed during your campus visit, interaction with students and alumni.

I just submitted my INSEAD Application for round 3 for the Sept 2012 intake.
I was quite happy with my Gmat score (700), especially since I studied for it in just 4 weeks. However, this forum shows there's quite a competition out there :)

Anybody else applying for round 3?
