Does anyone know when the new app for next year will be out? I received a user ID to begin my online app but the only date available for me to pick is 4/4/11. I aim to become the first person this year to submit the app :-D

If Rice maintains a similar Round 1 deadline, you're probably looking at early September. However, since you generated a sign-in ID you should be sent an automated email when the application becomes available.

After reading through the comments here I've decided to apply to Rice in round 1 instead of 2. Rice definitely seems like a great program career wise (energy and financial in Houston), high quality facility, and the short turnaround time for admission... not to mention the generous scholarship they offered to many applicants here.

I will apply to UT Austin and Texas A&M as well. I'm from Arizona and I would apply to ASU as well.

1st post. New Guy here. I applied to Rice MBAP (weekends) in round 5. I interviewed on the 23rd of June but I have not heard anything yet. I havent read much about the MBAP program here. I was wondering if anyone from round five has been accepted yet to that specific program or knows when we will find out?

Stats:
32 Years Old
White American Male
GPA-3.3 (small private school, unranked) BS Bus Mgmt
WE-6 years at my current job but only 2 of which were post graduate (account executive oil and gas)
GMAT-670 (q45 v37) AWA 5.0

I also applied at UT (Texas MBA @ Houston) and am interviewing later today.

Let me ask you, in case you are admitted to both schools where will you go? I have been accepted into both UT and Rice w/end programs, Class 2013, and after 10 days of painful mulling over STILL can't decide!

It always bothered me that I didn't go to UT for my undergrad. I will go to Texas if given the chance. If I didn't love the school/athletics I would go to Rice though. The facilities are much nicer and it has more of a "school" feel because the Rice program is at their campus.

Update:

I received an email today asking to call in about my application. It was a very short email from the Director of admissions that basically just asked me to call her. Unfortunately, I didn't check that account until the evening so she had already gone for the day. I don't want to get my hopes up too high but I think that is a good sign. They would have "dinged" me if I didn't make it, right?

You should be able to view your admissions decision on the application website (if a decision has indeed been made). Receiving a call from admissions sounds like a good sign. Did Melissa call you? Good luck.

I see that you were also considering UT and were leaning towards attending the Houston program. Are you still thinking along the same lines? I've had a great experience with the Rice admissions process and would be happy to answer any questions.

Hi,

I have applied to Rice Jones School of Business in the third round and i have got a interview call. Can anybody tell that in 3 rd round does Rice still send a lot of interview calls or is it conservative? It would be great if somebody gives me some insight on the interview preparation for Jones especially. What are the chances of getting a scholarship in the R3 ? I am an international student and without scholarship it would be very difficult for me to do my MBA.
