I did that for a couple of months last year, and it did work out, somehow.

wow grad_mba, you're done with the first draft already? nice!

aceman, I was thinking of just sitting down and brainstorming things that matters to me, things that motivated me throughout the years... and then compare that with my career goals and the themes I want to tell... It's supposed to be a deeply personal essay, and will require you to really look into yourself.

Hi Kryzak, looks like you're doing good. I'm still pretty stuck...been thinking about the question, but still can't come up with something convincing to talk about for 3-4 pages..My overall background is not really spectacular unfortunately..I do have a lot of international experience, which I guess is a strength...but I still don't know how to tie it with what I care about..

I thought the page limit was 7 pages total for the 3 essays... so 3 for the "What matters", 2-3 for Goals, and the rest for Essay C.

Many people I talked to are having problems fitting their essays in the limit above...

My problem last year was filling the 3-4 pages that came after answering the question "what matters most to you and why?" in 2 lines. I think that was my problem with Stanford's app.

Never say never! :)

The only thing I'm wondering is why you aren't going for the executive MBA? You have 10 years in management/leadership, and reached directorship in your company, they will really wonder *why* you need an MBA... Just food for thought.

1. Passion to study.
2. Have experience in IT and managed a team of 1000 as a Director. But, need to learn lot more to be an allrounder and be able to work in any industry (Not Just IT)
3.Good Full 2 year Break to recharge and restrategise the next 20 years
4.Combine my Global Experience in 4 Continents with the GSB card to move to the next levels with ease.
5.I don't want to do neither a parttime course nor an Exec MBA as I want to feel the air and Give & Take 100% from the campus.

I am sound very strong...But, this is me!

hrm, appuvar, your reasons are good, but your background is almost over-qualified. All the reasons (other than taking 2 years off and feeling the air) seem to fit what I've read of exec MBAs better, but that's just what the brochures and books say. Who am I to judge? :)

I wish you the best of luck with the app, and I suggest you drop your profile off for Paul Bodine at Accepted.com, Hjort, or MBA Game Plan to evaluate, as they know way more than me. =)

nope, that's the 2nd essay. What matters most to you is a "Who are you?" type essay, not a "Career Goals" essay. It's one of the toughest essays out there, so take your time and really think about it for a while before you start writing.
