Thanks guys.

I've done a draft and I think it's good. I think that by not telling my history I'd have a huge gap on the essay. I'm playing a bit with the margins though to have enough words.

Later today I'll work on the Essay A.

Well, hard to tell. My guts tell me to still try Stanford. On the other hand I feel that I've already done enough...

I'm still applying to the bg S, though I'm quite sure the W I'll not...

BTW, I couldn't work on essay A, otherwise Wine Port would be what matter most to me and the why would be that I got into GSB, but the other, hehehehe

submitted my app for round 2.

Essays had to be trimmed a little, left out loads of examples/anecdotes and focused on 2-3 key experiences in each section.

Essay A, i left it on a dangler as there was no room to write more, so i merely wrote about how a value has shaped me, and how this value matters to me the most, and finishing it before i even reached my professional and extra-curricular stuff.

Focus was mainly on my upbringing and anecdotes based around that.

This left me the remaining essays to focus on professional and extra curricular stuff.

I've been in a hurry to get all my applications done, so can't really say what the quality is like, personally, i think its quite good, but without knowing exactly what adcomm is looking for, who knows?

Joined the mba application circus quite late :).
Only decided to do an mba late october... 2 weeks to study for GMAT, had very little time, because the product i was working on ramped up and was due to be announced the day of the exam (took exam mid november) 1 month needed for GMAT scores to be sent to schools, and a load of schools deadlines in mid december (round 2). so 3-4 weeks to complete essays for 6 schools!!!!!

So i can definitely give experience from the perspective of unprepared GMAT exams and rushed essays :D

Thanks for updating the Stanford list with my interview invite, Kryzak. Sent last night at 10:30 PM EST (7:30 PST, Derrick's working long hours!), went into my junk mail box. Found it this morning while rooting around looking for Wharton decision info. A pleasant surprise!

I think Stanford typically asks you to interview within a 10-day window. With the upcoming holidays, I was given until Jan 7th to complete the interview. If you take a look at the BW forum, seems like there's been a constant trickle of invites over the past few days. I think we should take the Stanford AdCom at their word... they'll probably keep sending out invites until mid-Jan. Good luck to everyone!

This is my worst fear! What provider are you using? I've got a GMail account and while the spam filtering is excellent, it's not perfect.

hey terry12, was just going to send you a PM congratulating you, but will do so here. CONGRATS!

Yeah, though the wait is really getting to many of us. I think I'm better with the wait if I know the deadline (such as in Stanford's case), but with interviews, you never know when (and if) you will get one, spread out over 12 weeks. That's just bad.

I hope more of us will get interviews from Stanford. 15 applicants, 2 interviews, 13% so far. Roughly their interview rate. But this is GMATClub, so we should have a higher percentage!

But good luck with the interview, terry12. Please do let us know how it went here so we can help each other out!

Toploader- I use my old hotmail account for B-school stuff. I've gotten so paranoid about this process that I check the junkmail folder at least once a day. Until now, this has meant browsing through endless ads for Viagra and websites that offer... well... other services. The search paid off this morning, though. Interestingly, other Stanford emails (responses to questions to the AdCom, invites to info sessions, etc.) have gone into my regular email folder. Dunno why the invite went to junk mail.

Kryzak- Thanks! I'll certainly post about my interview, and give whatever pointers I can. The wait for the invite is excruciating, isn't it? You've got an amazing profile, though, and you've already shown Stanford a lot of love... I'm sure you'll be getting the invite soon!

Yeah, I just searched my junk folders in all my accounts. Unfortunately, due to work firewalls and stuff (long story), I chain-forward my emails from one address to another, all ending up in Gmail. So it could be intercepted at any time in one of the mailboxes. I search every few days and log into the application website every week just to make sure.

Thanks terry, your profile is very similar to mine in terms of age, schools, and length of experience. Hopefully this is a good sign. I'm sure you'll do a kick-butt job at your interview and score an admit for GMATClub (along with grad_mba)!!! :-D

First off congratz Terry! and all the very best to all those waiting! Very true Kry, this is GmatClub - we better exceed the 13% syndrome!

I had my interview today with an alum (MBA'1977) in his office. He was extremely friendly and made me feel instantly welcomed. He is from a finance background and started off by apologizing for the delay (the interview was pushed back by ~ 30 minutes) by explaining the crunch in closing various financial statements in this time of the year. He then asked me as to what I knew about the Stanford interview process and closed it with the gen information that it will not be a make or break and that it is a holisitic process. The interview was very conversational throughout and he took notes on almost all my responses.

- when did you decide that you needed a MBA? Why Stanford?
- what is your greatest achievement? what motivates you?
- tell me about a time when you had a leadership role outside of your profession. What challenges did you face?
- tell me about a time when you motivated others.
- tell me about a time when you faced dissappointment.
- tell me about an intellectually stimulating experience outside of work.

He was inquisitive about certain details and showed a genuine interest in knowing my stories. The 'interview' portion lasted for ~40 minutes beyond which he invited me to ask him questions.

Overall, if I dont make it, I know that my interview would not have been the reason.
