Hello All,
I am writing this message to get some feedback.
I am an engineer working as a data engineer, with past experiences in data science and machine learning.
I have 5 years of experience, in an international context.
I love my job, and I would like to keep on working in tech, in a "still technical but less technical" role, for example Solutions Architect, which involves designing solutions in the Cloud for specific use cases, ideally at top companies like AWS or Microsoft.
Because my background being purely technical, I feel like I will someday need to have stronger skills in accounting, project management, finance to be able to see the global picture of how businesses work. And I also want to grow my network. Plus I feel like I have some imposter syndrome, telling me I'm not legit yet to have relevant opinions on Business matters.
I thought the idea of doing an MBA could be an answer to that issue. I'm not thinking of a top 5 200k USD MBA (I don't want to change careers, only gain complementary skills), but more of a good one year MBA (top 100) with nice scholarships.
Do you think doing a one year MBA can help me with my career in tech, especially if I want to stay in a relatively technical role afterwards (tech lead, architect or maybe PM), or would it only lead to a waste of money and time? Especially since in tech you need to constantly stay up to date with technology, which means that I will have to keep one having my personal coding projects while pursuing the MBA.
Thanks for you help,
All the Best
Hi
atnmry, have you checked out Cornell & Stern’s 1Y Tech MBA programs? They could be a good fit, considering your goals. Worth having a look!
