Due to : modifies nouns
Because of : modifies verbs

This is explained here:
https://e-gmat.com/blogs/due-to-vs-because-of/

a helpful trick to differentiate is that "Due to" can be replaced by "caused by" while "because of" can not.
details are in the above link.

Hi gmatgood,

Another useful links:
https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/foru ... ml#p123182
https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/foru ... t3081.html

You should ALWAYS be able to replace "due to" with "caused by".

Hope this helps!

Due to modifies noun whereas because of modifies verb.

My high scores are due to hard work.
My scores are high because of hard work.

Replace by caused by and check if it makes sense.

My high scores are caused by hard work. makes sense...we can use due to

My scores are high caused by hard work. doesn't make sense..cant use due to
