1. The cardiac surgeon uses the following logic:

- Someone is a busy worker and is always on the go.
- They are more likely to eat "convenient" foods such as fast foods, processed snacks, and microwave meal replacements.
- This will likely lead to chronic inflammation of blood vessels.

2. The characteristic must be related to the first part of the cardiac surgeon's logic. This is closest to: The person is a busy worker, traveling from meeting to meeting and often has no time.

3. The prediction is connected to the person's cardiovascular health. Since the best matching characteristic is negative, it must lead to negative cardiovascular health. This is closest to: The person is at risk for heart attacks due to chronic inflammation of the blood vessels.

4. Our answer will be: Prediction - The person is a busy worker, traveling from meeting to meeting and often has no time and Characteristic - The person is at risk for heart attacks due to chronic inflammation of the blood vessels.

Could you pls check if the Prediction and characteristics mentioned in the fourth part of the explanation should be interchanged? A logical Prediction should be - The person is at risk for heart attacks and Characteristics should be - The person is a busy worker---.

Why is eating the chips and candies not a characteristic?

From the passage it suggests that busy workers who EAT fast foods are more likely to develop a chronic heart condition.

From the option - "The person is a busy worker, traveling from meeting to meeting, and often has no time." , we can't predict that they will develop a heart condition. We can however, if they eat more fast foods than vegeteables

Cardiac Surgeon: Although fast foods, processed snacks, and microwave meal replacements better fit the needs of working professionals who have little time and are always on the go, such "convenient" foods are harmful to the body's cardiovascular system as excess consumption of omega-6 vegetable oils like soybean, corn and sunflower lead to chronic inflammation of blood vessels. We can therefore make predictions about a person's cardiovascular health on the basis of a lifestyle characteristic of the person.

The cardiac surgeon suggests that a certain type of prediction about a person can be made on the basis of the person having a certain lifestyle characteristic. Indicate in the table the possible characteristic and prediction that most strongly conform to the cardiac surgeon's suggestion. Make only two selections, one in each column.
First, we need to identify the characteristic and based on it we will make a prediction. So, based on the passage the possible characteristics and predictions that most strongly conform to the cardiac surgeon's suggestions are as follows:

Characteristic: The person is a busy worker, traveling from meeting to meeting, and often has no time.

Prediction : The person is at risk for heart attacks due to chronic inflammation of the blood vessels.

The OA is more related to the statement we have from the surgeon and the question doesn't tells us if eating more snacks than vegetables causes heart problems. I see how you could make the logical conclusion though, cut out the middle man from "they are busy so they eat poorly" to just "they eat poorly." Overall, question's not official quality.

Found this on AI Overview:

The statement from the cardiac surgeon suggests that a person's lifestyle characteristic is the fundamental cause of their health issues.
While eating potato chips and snacks is certainly a behavior within that lifestyle, it isn't the primary, overarching characteristic that drives the behavior.
The core of the surgeon's argument is that the lack of time due to a busy professional life forces a person into a pattern of unhealthy eating. The lifestyle of being "on the go" is the central characteristic. The act of eating potato chips is a consequence of that lifestyle, not the defining characteristic itself. Therefore, the "busy worker" statement more accurately captures the root cause described by the surgeon.
