Hey guys,
When solving SC questions, I find that some of the right answers do not just fix the structural errors in the question but they also slightly modify its meaning. Should I worry about the modification in the meaning of the sentence or only focus on finding the errorless structure. By modify the meaning of the sentence, I don't mean a major modification where the meaning of the sentence is changed. For example, let's say the original underlined question stem says "the medicine may result in harm" and the right answer choice will have "may prove harmful". For me resulting in harm is slightly different in meaning from proving harmful.

Hi, my 2 cents....
from recent developments of GMAC, (read through threads in forum) meaning plays a very significant role in SC. It is extremely important to understand the intended meaning of the sentence, with the fragment you mentioned, it is hard to analyze the concrete meaning, thus I cant respond on this example. But,as observed otherwise, most correct choices of SC will have the unambiguous meaning of the sentence with corrected grammar errors (there are very rare and few exceptions viz; pronoun referents - not a very stringent rule I read in posts and blogs, but this is very rare, else all other choices stand corrected with grammar errors)
In case you are still not able to relate then may be you are mis reading the intended meaning of the complete sentence, please post specific questions for review
