Hi all,
I graduated UG in 2008, worked for a company for 2.5 years and then last June made a somewhat-industry-changing move to another job. So I've been here for 8 months and may now have an opportunity to make a lateral move (same exact position and industry) but at a better firm, working for a better team.
Question - if I'm applying for an MBA this fall to matriculate fall 2013, would it be negatively construed by adcoms if I make this move? I'm wondering if they'll dislike the two relatively short-term stints right before applying. I have my reasons, and considering the firm I'd be moving from and the one I'd be moving to, I'm sure they'd understand that it's an "upgrade", but will they think I'm flaky or not ready to go to grad school if I'm just starting a new role a few months before applying? Also, will they think it's morally reprehensible of me to take a new job when I know I'm planning to leave the following year?

It's not a problem to be ambitious. and it's good that you will be staying in the same industry. If you can prove somehow (through firm reputation, size, project size, salary, etc.) that this new job is better (and you should do so explicitly in your application) it's even better. Look, it's a better place and better team, and that is why in fact you are making the choice. So how could it possibly be a bad one?

Definitely take the job! Until you have been accepted to business school you would be crazy not to take the opportunity. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Plus, if there is a better opportunity, or you are showing career growth, I feel like this will only look good!
The only reason why you shouldn't is if you believe that the bridges you could potentially burn would come back to haunt you for your post MBA career.
