In a similar position. It looks like a visa stamp is the best option otherwise you won’t be able to leave the country during your studies and will miss out on some potential trip.

Just hope you have in mind that your next H1B will only have 4 years max duration and not 6. You also need to demonstrate enough ties to your home country since your current H1B is a dual intent visa and F1 is a non-immigrant one.

Hey thank you for replying. How can you show potential home ties though? I am qualified for Dropbox so hardly anything that I can do.

As far as I know it can be as simple as answering during the interview that you want to return to your home country to do X, Y, or Z to be as hard as demonstrating that you have house/family/a reason to return. Luck plays a role here on getting an easy interviewer when applying.
