I've been admitted to both Columbia and Kellogg. My post MBA goal is to land an investment management role, ideally with a value oriented hedge fund. I will have 6 years of buy side experience upon matriculation. In terms of location, I have a slight preference for New York over Chicago, purely based on the fact that NYC has a higher concentration of hedge funds. Given I am an international student and have spent only a limited amount of time in either city, its hard for me to decide which city is more suited to me. Right now I am leaning towards Columbia and NYC, but I haven't completely made up my mind.

it is wise to be in NY in terms of your goals. Location will play great role to allow you network and access recruiters. It is fierce competition

Based on your career goal alone in IM, I have to give CBS the edge in terms of recruiting, placement, and NYC location/proximity to employers. I'd definitely visit though-- the schools are pretty different culturally and you may find yourself drawn to one student body over the other.
