Many posts mention that relative pronouns, especially 'that', should not be preceded by a comma. I read that 'that' is an essential modifier and should not be preceded by a comma. Is this correct? Also, is it necessary that other relative pronouns such as 'whose', 'which', 'whom' should not be preceded by a comma? Is it an absolute grammar rule? Have made 2-3 mistakes because of this. @GMATNinja- I know you advise against following absolute grammar rules. Can you shed some light on this? egmatCrackverbalGMAT Would also like to know from you.
Looking forward to some more clarity so to prevent eliminating the right answer because of this confusion

WHICH can be preceded by a comma. May be worth checking/seeing how GMAC covers these words in correct answer choices as you go through the Official SCs.
