Can someone help me with question number 3, 5 and 9 of the passage

I will not comment on question #3 because i am also not satisfied with the OA.

Explanation

5. As used by the author in line 2 of the last paragraph, “more objective” most nearly means

Difficulty Level: 750

Explanation

Use your CR skills to answer this question and pick up the choice which is supported by the text.

(A) is the second close choice but why it is wrong because the generalizibility of the word "quantifiable" is vast for the purpose of this question. It is too extreme to use this word as there are a lot of things which comes under quantity which passage hasn't mentioned so this option is wrong.

(B) Out of the way

(C) Out of the way

(D) Although it is mentioned in the passage but it is also a bit extreme answer choice for the purpose.

(E) Perfectly the bone of contention of the whole passage and main theme of the passage is this answer choice, It is supported by a few starting lines in which author present the main topic of the passage and conclusion in the last paragraph. so it is the answer

Answer: E

9. The author’s primary purpose in the passage is to

Difficulty Level: 700

Explanation

For main purpose questions always read the first paragraph very carefully, then find the twist (if any) in the second or third paragraph and then read the last paragraph very carefully to conclude the debate, in this way you will never miss the main purpose question.

(A) There is no criticism in the passage, rather a few opposing practices are mentioned

(B) No suggestions here as the author tries to convince what he or she thinks.

(C) Although it is a global phenomena but what information is available in the last paragraph make this option wrong, This is an option starts with good but end in bad.

(D) In the first para the author starts a theory and introduces the topic at hand, then provide details and opposing practices. In the last paragraph the author concludes what his purpose is. So this is the best choice among others

(E) Out of the way

Answer: D

Hope it helps

3. Sadly I wasn't right at figuring out the answer at first. But, after seeing the OA, I assume the answer is because of the choice of words used in the first paragraph:

Because comparable worth does not attack all forms of inequality, it can have only a modest direct effect on the overall degree of inequality in society, but in attacking gender inequality in the job classification system it attacks a major component of gender inequality in the United States. The likelihood that other forms of inequality will become more manifest with the lessening of gender inequality is not a valid argument against comparable worth. Indeed, struggles for comparable worth may help launch campaigns against similar forms of inequity. Still, while conservatives have battled hard against comparable worth, radicals have been reluctant to fight for it because they see the narrow presentations in comparable worth litigation as the limits of the concept.
