Got Dinged at Rice after interview, but I heard back from Cox, admitted with $$. Waiting to hear back from McCombs before I can make the decision. Have you guys researched graduate scholarships at Cox? Also according to Business week the avg salary for conulting is 100k at Cox vs 120K at McCombs. Did anyone do their research on this?

Does anyone have any statistics on interviewed/accepted ratio at SMU Cox? I applied for R3, and recently got invited to do a skype interview with the director of admissions. I'm hoping this is a good sign that I have a great chance of acceptance as this is my dream school. I interview next week, I generally am very good at person to person interview type situations so I believe I will perform strongly. I am very pleased to just have this opportunity. However, I am very nervous, any advice or anything to help ease my nerves would be great.

I am not sure about the interview/accepted ratio. The unique thing about the SMU Cox interview is that the interviewer will likely have read your entire application so he could ask application-specific questions. I would just make sure you know your own story and are prepared to talk about any decisions or experiences.

Also I see you are a veteran. I would also recommend reaching out to the SMU Cox veterans organization for more advice or tips. I have emailed a few of them back and forth and they are very helpful.

Can anyone advise me as to the climate on campus and in the classroom? I'm considering applying, but currently live in NYC, and my tastes in music/fashion/friends would be considered very progressive. I attended Auburn for only a semester and hated it - the town was too small and the students seemed very closed minded. I transferred to Ohio State in Columbus and loved it - the city and campus were both big and I was about to find a scene I fit into. I grew up in the Midwest and like Middle American things like college football and BBQ, but small towns and the people who live in them make me feel very isolated, even if they are normally considered friendly. Being in a big city like Dallas would help, but realistically considering this is a religious affiliated school in the south raises some concerns. How conservative is the campus and the students in the MBA program?

Don't worry about the name of the school. SMU is in a very progressive area with lots of (mostly?) progressive students. The school is in the middle of an international city and many of the students grew up in the area and will have similarly progressive tastes. Your experience at SMU would be nothing like that at Auburn. Feel free to message me for specifics if you want.
