Panelists: 2, both alumni Duration: 25-30 minutes Before starting with the interview the panelists asked me if I am comfortable and if I am good to get started. They then went on to introduce themselves. Questions asked: 1. Tell us about your work experience 2. What are some of the responsibilities that you have shouldered? 3. How do you resolve technical challenges for your team? 4. Why do you think communication is the most important leadership quality? (This question stemmed from my essay) 5. My goals and the skillset I would require to attain those goals. 6. Why ISB? 7. What kind of consulting have you done in your role? (I am a tech consultant) 8. Do you want to talk about something that you do other than your work? Something that stands out in your profile? Anything other than “call of duty”? 9. Any questions for us? The interviewers were absolutely straight-faced and were not giving anything out.

The interviewer was an AdCom member, and laid out the format and major topics that would be covered in the interview. Most of the questions were standard and had been the same ones mentioned in the other debriefs. 1. Walk me through your resume. 2. Why MBA? Why Now? Why Georgetown? 3. How would you select the school you want to attend (from the possible multiple admits that you receive next month)? 4. TMAT when you were challenged by a team member/senior/client? 5. TMAT when you had to confront diversity? 6. TMAT when you had to take step back for the team? 7. ST and LT goals? 8. Plan B? 9.Any questions for me? All the best to everyone!

Had an interview with an alumni in the greater China area. He was able to share a lot of insight about the application process, because he used to serve on the alumni admissions board at Kellogg. Some of his insights were the following: The interview is worth, at most, 15% of the overall decision. The school knows how subjective this process is, and tries not to overvalue the judgment of the interviewer. The biggest purpose of the interview is to provide the admissions team corroborating information and additional information, and not to make or break your application like interviews at HBS or GSB. I am inspired to write about my experience by of the **BIG YIKES** debrief, because I had a very similar experience, but with pretty different outcomes. My interviewer arrived about 15 minutes late, and during our conversation, he picked up multiple calls with other people. He asked pretty much the exact same questions and a bunch of follow up questions. He also compared my application with other applicants', and gave me feedback on what I did well, what I did poorly, and how to improve my application for future reference. He finished up by saying that to be frank, there wasn't much he could do, because again, the interview is a tiny part of the Kellogg application, but he thought that I was a very strong candidate and hoped to see me as a fellow alumni in the future. All together, our interview lasted 2 hours. While he was curt and disruptive, I understand that he's an MD at a large local bank and I'm sincerely appreciative of his time. Kellogg also tries to interview every serious applicant, so these volunteers have to handle a lot of extra work. Lastly, a lot of executives in developing countries, due to their environment, develop pretty toxic habits. With these consideration, I can see why Kellogg interviewers may approach interviews with a very different perspective than applicants. It's also hard for me to see why someone would volunteer 2 hours of time to an applicant if they didn't want the best for the applicant. I do agree that the **BIG YIKES** interviewer definitely went overboard though. I hope the applicant is doing well now. To provide an alternative perspective to the **BIG YIKES**: I am a reapplicant, and I received similar feedback last year and was rejected. I also have similar conditions/disabilities as that applicant, so I sincerely empathize. I then spent a year working on myself, including attending a one year masters degree where I am currently top of class, while working full-time. This year, I reapplied and have received a lot of positive feedback. So despite the rudeness of the interviewer, I see a lot of relevance and practicality in the feedback.

The interview was very conversational and went on for exactly 30 minutes. 1. Can you walk us through your journey so far and why you want to pursue an MBA from ISB. 2. Question about a work initiative I mentioned in my essay 3. Cross questions on work and any team management issues I faced. Some more questions on the specifics since one of the interviewer was from the same domain 4. Question on whether I feel ISB is the only path that can help me achieve my goals. 5. Question on how my involvement in extra curricular activities will help me achieve my goals 6. Question on long term goals and some cross questions on that. 7. Any questions for us? I had the interview today for the full-time program. I applied in R1, but my application was moved to R2 because of some technical issues on their side (bummer). The interview was with the director of the program and someone from the career center. It was very conversational and they had read my application before the program so they had more direct questions to me. A. Why MBA? Why Fisher? B. Short term and long term goals C. What are the challenges you expect to have at Fisher? D. Proudest moment in both professional and personal life? E. What have you been working on in your own development in both professional and personal life? F. What areas have you struggled with? G. Tell us a time you lead a team. H. Tell us about a time when you received constructive feedback from someone I. Tell us about a time when you showed empathy. J. Tell us about a time when you worked with people from diverse backgrounds. K. Oper floor to questions. A lot of questions were covered in the first 25 minutes and then about 15 minutes of conversation/questions I had for them. They mentioned they are rolling admissions and I may hear back from them before the result deadline.

I interviewed with an AdCom team member. There was another trainee who had joined to learn from the experience. But he had switched off his audio/video to ensure that there is no disturbance from his side. Total Interview Time: 32 mins The interview started with the interviewer setting basic expectations regarding the flow of the interview process. These were: 1. 30 mins for the interview 2. 20-25 mins for questions from their side, remaining time for me to ask questions 3. Notes would be taken simultaneously. Hence, there is a possibility that the interviewer might not be looking at the screen continuously (but would be attentive for sure). Mostly straight-forward questions were asked such as: 1. Walk me through your resume 2. ST and LT goals 3. Why McDonough? 4. Which other schools are you considering? 5. If you get selected at all the schools that you have applied to, how would you decide which school to pursue your MBA in? 6. If your current Manager is asked to share 2 of your strengths and areas of growth each, what would he/she have to say? 7. Tell me about a time you had to take a step back for the benefit of the team. What was the result/outcome? 8. Do you have any questions for me? The interview was smooth sailing and the interviewer was friendly. This made me feel calm throughout the interview. All the best!
