Just finished my interview. It was with an alumni who graduated in 2007.
I was expecting a candid and conversational experience, but it felt like a proper interview and he grilled me quite a bit.
Questions:
1. Tell me about yourself (Your experience, Why MBA, What are your goals) - He grilled quite a bit on the Why MBA part, asking why I need an MBA to achieve my goals
2. He asked about my plan-B in case I don’t take an MBA and pressed on it asking why I don’t directly pivot into consulting, without an MBA. He asked what skills are required to be a strategy consultant.
3. How Ross fits into the picture
3. TMAT you faced a challenge, how did you solve and what was the impact
4. TMAT you worked on a project which had the biggest impact
5. TMAT you had a conflict with a teammate, how did you resolve it and what was the impact
6. TMAT you worked in a diverse team (Didn’t probe too much on this)
7. TMAT you failed, how did you face it and what was the impact
8. Any questions you have for me
Even for the TMAT questions he wasn’t satisfied when I was explaining things at a high level. He kept interrupting me in between and he wanted me to set up the context properly before explaining what happened
My suggestion for everyone else:
1. Be perfectly clear on why you want to do an MBA and how it sets you up for your goals
2. Make sure not to use fictional examples, and if you are asked a TMAT question that has never happened to you, just be frank and say that something exactly like that didn’t happen, and provide an example that loosely connects to it.

Just finished my interview. It was with Jillian Stubbs. It was a surprisingly short interview and we were done in about 15 mins and for the rest of the time it was me asking random questions to her.
1. Tell me about your work experience (Not yourself, but work experience - So I only talked about my job)
2. How do you work in a team and what aspect is most important for team-work?
3. What are your motivations for pursuing an MBA and Why Goizueta?
4. What are your short term and long term goals? (I included my Plan-B as well, and she didn’t follow up on that)
5. Anything that you wanted me to ask
Post this, it was mostly me asking questions about her experience and stuff

Current student but graduates in 2 months.
The interview was very conversational. He was interested in who I was as a person, my motivations, and how I would fit in at Ross.
- walk me through your cv
- what are your short and long term goals
- why MBA , why now, why Ross
- tell me about a time you had to adapt to a new situation
- tell me about a time you received critical feedback from a subordinate
- Tell me about a time you had to handle a challenging situation
- Tell me about a time you had to work with a diverse team
After that, it was just follow up questions from my experience and answers.

Had 2 interviews with HEC alums over 2 days. The 1st one was 1.5hrs and the 2nd lasted for about an hour.
Interview 1:
This one was very relaxed from the start, the alum was super warm and made it a great experience overall. Questions included -
1. Tell me about yourself
2. Why MBA?
3. Why HEC?
4. Why not other EU schools like INSEAD?
5. What kind of leader do you aspire to be?
6. How will you motivate your team?
7. What're your post MBA goals? LT + ST
8. What will you do pre MBA and on campus to achieve these goals?
9. If post MBA goals don't pan out, what will you do?
10. How will you stay upto date with current AI trends during your MBA? (This was a goals based Q)
There were alot more questions based on my answers. It was clear that the alum was trying to gauge my thought process and wanted to understand my values system. The presentation happened midway through the interview. Keep your topic engaging and maybe choose a topic which isn't highlighted in your application (my application was quite work heavy, so I chose a personal topic for the ppt). The alum also gave me some great feedback at the end.
Interview 2:
This one was a bit shorter and more work focused. Questions included -
1. Walk me through your CV (there were alot of questions as i was walking them though my CV based on projects, roles, responsibilities)
2. Why HEC? Why not INSEAD?
3. Why Europe?
4. What are your ST + LT goals? Why?
The presentation was at the end of the interview.
Prepare for situational/behavioral questions well and be clear on your motivations. The alums were great to talk to and I got to ask them a few questions towards the end as well.

Interview happened with Adcom for 33 minutes including my questions. Told that it would a blind interview ( She only had my resume & goals section )
She started my reading out my resume highlights.
1) Why did I choose my function & industry?
2) 1 Follow-up question on that
3) Career progression compared to peers?
4) Short-Term & Long-Term goals?
5) What did I do till now to reach those goals?
6) What's my backup plan?
7) Why MBA? Why Kellogg?
8) What aspects of leadership am I trying to develop?
9) TMAT where I had to work with someone I didn't like?
10) TMAT I failed?
11) TMAT I faced adversity?
12) Constructive feedback I received and my response?
13) Professional achievement I am most proud of?
14) What's my leadership style?
15) What's my take on collaboration? How do I implement that in my leadership?
16) Three adjectives that my colleagues would use to describe me
17) Strengths & Weaknesses?
18) Anything else I would like to add?
Ended with 2 questions from my end. Tone of the interview was positive but interviewer probed with follow-ups for multiple questions. Asked me not to give lot of context and be short answer keeping in mind the shorter duration of interview. Cautiously optimistic.

I was the second candidate for that panel. The reporting time was 8:30 am. The panelists were 2 professors.
Started off with the extempore. Topic - Should India implement a digital tax on global tech giants?
I misunderstood the question and since I couldn't come up with a lot of points for it, I went against it. They tried to ask me questions to bring me on track and there were a lot of rebuttals, which I handled calmly.
Then they asked me about my work ex, about the cities where I'd lived. Some other random questions like is Bangalore only known for startups in IT/ITES.
The vibe was surprisingly light and fun. The interviewers were laughing and smiling, and it felt more like a great conversation than an interrogation. They even gave me a toffee on the way out.

Got the invite from Prof. Carl Voigt about 4 days in advance — super warm and relaxed setup over Zoom. He makes it feel like a chat, not an interview.
Questions asked:
1. Where are you joining from? (To set conversational tone)
2. Have you connected with IBEAR alumni/current students? (To get conversation flowing)
3. Tell me about your career so far.
4. Why MBA and why now?
5. Why IBEAR specifically?
6. What are your short- and long-term goals?
7. What exposure do you have to (goals related)?
8. Are you applying elsewhere?
9. What makes IBEAR stand out for you?
10. Family joining you during the program?
11. Have you been to the U.S. before?
12. Any questions for me?
Takeaway:
Conversation flowed easily — Prof. Voigt genuinely wants to know your story, realistic goals and fit with the cohort. Focus on why this program (industry trips + tight-knit class) and show clarity on post-MBA goals.

Debrief -
2nd Oct 1:30
Location - IIMA
total 4 panels, 2 interviewer in each panel
1 male (P1 - Marketing professor) and 1 female (P2 - Organizational behavior professor) in my panel.
P2 ushered me to the interview room. I Entered the room, greeted the P1.
Even before sitting properly
P1 - what is packaged application? (resume qus)
Me - Answered
P1 - so Ms office is also packed application?
Me - yes sir
P1 - ok, now you can pick a chit, think for few min and then start speaking for or against of the topic. If you're not comfortable, you can change the topic but that will be binding.
Me - sure sir,
I picked the chit, topic was - initiatives like make in India or make America great again are stopping Globalisation and pushing towards re-shore
Took some time to think, clarified the scope of topic then jotted few notes although didn't refer to those.
Me - started speaking in the direction that Globalisation won't be hurt despite the make in India or MAGA schemes. It may promote local businesses but Globalisation can't be stopped by these schemes. Etc etc
Completed my argument
P1 - but how can you say that tariffs are not going to impact India? What India has to offer which can't be transferred to other countries.
Me - answered, or atleast tried to answer
P1 - No, apart from cheap labor which can be outsourced from anywhere, how will you justify this?
Me - answered
P1 - No no, but I want to know what India can offer to other countries which is groundbreaking or something which is never done. Don't tell me cheap labour and expertise as our engineers are doing normal jobs in TCS and rest of the companies but their businesses mostly comes from US only.
Me - answered, tried to convince but also told that we are not innovating something which is groundbreaking at this stage, but whatever we do, in that, our expertise lies.
P1 - laughed and still No no no no...
P2 stepped in
P2 - what is the big heart award (resume)
Me - explained
P2 - so don't you think CSR that companies do is hypocritical in nature as they can do better things with that money?
Me - tried to justify
P2 - can you justify CSR with logic, why your Company should have responsibility of doing CSR rather than may be hiring more people if you're so much concerned about making difference in people's life?
Me - tried to defend
P2 - Let's just keep company law or country's law aside, then will companies would be interested in doing CSR?
Me - told that not all but few will still do.
P2 - what would you do if you have your own company?
Me - told that I'll do
P2 - but don't you think CSR is spoiling people to enjoy freebies
Me - explained
P2 - but you train people from IIT, NIT and other people, how they are marginalized, they are well off and doing great?
Me - told that we don't train people from IIT or NIT, but from partnered NGO who only get diploma degree free of cost and we also help them to learn what is needed to get into our companies and how they can learn things.
P1 - so do you agree with 5000 Rs freebies govt is spending to people.
Me - explained and told govt policies and told I don't agree
P1 - but you were agreeing to CSR but why this shift in stance?
Me - told them that 1 specific scheme and why we can't stop distribution of money, but in other scheme where blanket money is getting distributed to anybody who enrolled, that I don't support, as it can be optimized further by redirecting money to specific set of people.
P1 smiled and told I'm done
P2 offered me chocolate and asked me to leave.

As I walked in I was asked to pick a chit which will give out a topic. I’ll have 30 seconds to prepare my views on the topic and then I’ll have to defend my take.
Topic - private deemed-to-be-universities are simple money making businesses
I went against the topic. Put forth a few points which they countered. I countered with a few more and told them that their points are also valid. Basically I felt they have such topics which can have both sides and thus only to pressure test a candidate.
Beyond this, were the standard goals, why MBA and why now type of questions. What started with them trying to put me off later eased into a conversational discussion of them trying to get to know me and the direction I wish to head.
Lasted for about 30 min or so.
