Congrats on the success with GU. Re your post MBA goal of manufacturing, please exercise extra care since very, very few manufacturing firms hire internationals or sponsor H1B.

Hey Dee,
So my immediate goal after I graduate is to get into brand management roles and on the long run, become an entrepreneur in the manufacturing sector, which will most probably be in my home country.

There's no option to mention marketing/brand management/product management here😅

My observation may still hold good as the reference is to how the company gets classified. e.g., marketing and brand management roles in CPG firms will still not be forthcoming because rarely any CPG firm in the US sponsors H1B. However, marketing/brand management/PPM in, say, Amazon may be possible since Amazon sponsors. Of course, only you know what's on your mind :-). Best wishes.

I am currently serving as an Area Manager (Sales) for the Middle East and Africa at a French multinational corporation with annual revenues exceeding €11 billion. I have accumulated 7-8 years of experience in Projects, Sales, and Business Development, working with clients across EMEA and India.

Looking to pivot to Consulting or Private equity role post MBA. Aiming for schools that may offer me full scholarships.

Hey, @SHAHZEN KHAN

Speaking about your profile, it will be a strategic plan to target the business schools that are focused on consulting and private equity, such as INSEAD, Columbia Business School, USC Marshall, and UVA Darden.I would also recommend that you apply to Chicago because they have various merit-based scholarships and every applicant will be awarded these scholarships automatically without going through any formal processes.

Your 685 GMAT Focus score is quite competitive, especially with the new scoring range (205-805). Although you may want to improve your GRE score because major universities do see both exams equally, for now, your current one demonstrates potential. It is best to apply in Round 1 to maximize your chances of admission and scholarships. These are merit-based scholarships for which you have better prospects than many others applying around their own time. When preparing for an application, consider highlighting leadership experiences and professional impact, as well as reasons why you would be a great fit for each school. Securing strong recommendations will make your application stronger.

Applying to more schools during Round 1, due to their competitive nature, improves one’s chances of sticking through. Moreover, always try to have at least one institution among those applying in Round 2 as a backup plan. With these solid test scores coupled with a professional background, you are likely to be accepted into your target schools while also getting a scholarship.

I hope it helps you. :D

Let's connect and have a detailed discussion of your profile.Click here to schedule a complimentary profile evaluation session with our experts . We match you with the students and alums of top B-Schools according to your background and target schools.

Hi SHAHZEN KHAN

I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, 7+ years in projects, sales, and business development, particularly in the dynamic energy and utilities sector for a multinational giant, is very impressive. Your pivot to consulting or PE post-MBA is ambitious, but your experience positions you well for such a transition. Your 685 FE score is also decent for these schools. It stands around 740. Speaking about your mock GRE, a 335 is also an amazing score. If you are able to achieve it, it will further strengthen your academic background.
Full scholarships for these top MBA programs that you are targeting is competitive, your unique blend of industry, geography, and career aspirations could make you a strong contender.

To enhance your scholarship prospects, clearly articulate your career vision, showcase leadership and impact in your current role, and highlight any unique experiences that sets you apart from the pool of applicants.

I'd love to learn more about your goals and explore your profile in greater detail. Feel free to connect for a detailed analysis.

Private Equity as a post-MBA career is quite unlikely for you. Once you have done your due diligence and research, you will figure this out. For a full scholarship, you need to offer something very, very unique and attractive to the schools.

I think your age is just fine, esp if you come off more mature. The only question is really when it comes to age is recruiting.

In general, solid profile and I think you have great chances to get in.
P.S. I know you already submitted the applications but if you can emphasize (maybe in the interview) that you have a job lined afterwards back in Thailand, that will improve the chances. It is still a big bill to pay for the MBA though, esp at LBS 😣

Thank you for the evaluation! I did mention that the CEO (who I closely worked with) and my direct supervisor (Head of Corp Dev) are happy to welcome me back in case things changed as I go on my MBA journey. It will still align with my long-term vision. No space to mention this in Cambridge application though, so I might have to address it in the interview like you advised.

Great!

PS. if you have not yet networked with the students, which I assume you have but if you haven’t, make sure you do and I’ll save if there are any events between now and the interviews, I would attend all of them. There may be something useful here but it’s also something you can just refer to to show you fond of the school. You have to pay this strange homage of loyalty 😂

S̄wạs̄dī, GreenT. As a Brit who studied for his MBA there many moons ago, I have seen the country closely. In the words of the present Labor government, "the country is broke and broken." Half of the UK is wanting to leave. I hope you have done your due diligence on employment prospects post-MBA. It's a good thing that you have a Plan B of returning home. Unless you mess up your application narratives, you are very well placed for a seat in the schools you have selected.

To bb, yea definitely! I have been networking with several alumni from each school to assess my fit. The next virtual events from these programmes are in the mid-late Sep which I'd likely attend. For some reason, it seems like they're hosting virtual events less frequently than when the application cycle had yet to start XD.

Hi dee1pug1, thank you for the heads up. Yea, I do not expect much at all from the UK market, especially for MBA, in these past few years and going into my MBA year as well. I'm mainly looking to go back to my home country post-MBA and the UK MBA I applied are highly regarded here (maybe not as much as MBA in the U.S.), so I'm expecting a satisfactory job prospect, at least in the mid-long term. I'm not looking to drastically change career path so I think a relevant business degree in general would help propel me forward.

Hopefully there'll be some good news on interview decisions in the coming weeks!

Short term goal is go back to consulting, but focus more on strategy making.

Long term goal is either in:
1. Invstment strategy - I have background in State Owned Enterprise projects for Investment Strategy) and enter National Finance Authority

OR

2. Focus on sustainability/ green house gas - I have previous work experience in Nestle and Green House Gas project in my current employer. Was thinking that this is an overall aligned storyline with my previous employer, then enter FMCG company as sustainability lead.

Hi @CashFlowPositive ,

With 6 years in finance, a good GPA of 3.5, and a 695 GMAT score, you present a competitive profile, though M7 and top finance-focused MBA programs will likely look for further strengths. You shall focus on showcasing your quantitative and analytical capabilities in your essays, recommendations, and any additional coursework or certifications you may have.

In terms of positioning, it’s essential to highlight both your technical finance skills and any leadership or unique projects that illustrate your impact. For example, if you’ve led a high-stakes project, managed client relations, or significantly improved financial performance metrics, those accomplishments can underscore your readiness for post-MBA finance roles.

As we have very little information now, we cannot comment much on your profile. If you’d like, we are happy to discuss your profile in depth and assess your chances to top B-schools and strengthen your application with impactful stories.

Hey @justdohit , I hope you are doing well.

Your profile presents a strong foundation. Your internship experience as a brand and product manager at a startup, followed by a full-time role at Nongshim, demonstrates practical, hands-on experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), a major industry. The impact you've had in sales with the Chupa Chups brand is impressive, especially given the significant growth in sales figures. However, to enhance your MBA application, it is recommended to focus on improving your GMAT score, which at 625 is on the lower end for top-tier programs. While your academic performance and extracurricular involvement are notable, refining your career goals with more depth could further strengthen your narrative. For example, broadening your short-term goals to include not just brand management but strategic roles in marketing or product development could give a clearer view of how the MBA fits into your long-term aspirations, such as becoming a CMO. Additionally, your startup experience can be a valuable asset if framed in terms of leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Overall, consider retaking the GMAT if possible, and ensure your essays highlight not only your work achievements but also your leadership skills and future impact, which will appeal to top business schools. What's going to matter most in your application is how you connect the experiential dots and build a great story to stand out from other applicants in the pool.

If you’d like, we are happy to discuss your profile in depth and assess your chances to top B-schools and strengthen your application with impactful stories.

Cheers!
