Hi! I would say it was honestly a great experience - the alumni are very friendly and eager to get to know you holistically. I didn't have any necessarily hard questions - just your classic Why HEC/ Why MBA / Why now? I would focus on articulating your vision with the MBA and why you believe you'll be a great fit for the program! You're half way there as they clearly already see that in you

Interesting choice of schools - good one as it will make you a valuable addition to those programs. You are planning to focus on Asia when you graduate? or here in the US?

Initially in Singapore as it has one of the fastest aging populations combined with being one of the healthiest countries in the world - I believe older adults will be receptive to redefining their health. Also I'm Chinese American so, culturally, I can identify both with western and eastern values, and hope that will aid in communicating my message.

Got it! Makes sense. I was wondering about the location but makes perfect sense.
P.S. You have a big market and a growing market too! (we are all heading your way 😂)

I did attend weekend gmat classes from Jamboree just to stick to the schedule. Get as much as possible in gmat, so it will make your application look better. Buy all the 6 official mocks and take them twice. There are also a couple of free mocks available online. Just remember, gmat may not be a one off thing for everyone, it might be a journey and be prepared to take it more than once.

Oh! Insane GMAT score! 🤯
Your profile appears very unique with the goal that you have so I have little to offer there but this will be very refreshing for AdCom's and it is great that you are planning to continue your current path. and since you have about 6 years since graduation, that GPA can be explained, hopefully with some good reasons and clearly some great achievements since. Looks like lessons were learned!

P.S. You don't really need to convert your GPA to the 4.0 scale and can leave it as your original/native.

Thanks for your comment, bb! I received an interview invite from Kellogg and nowhere else for the R2. Should I be concerned, or is it just early days? It has been a week since I submitted most of my applications.

It’s not going to help to be concerned but we’re very early on in the interview release season. Must’ve your chosen programs haven’t gotten to releasing.

Kellogg is very fast and liberal in their interview invitations. Others are not so you can prep for the cow interview and I think expect others 🤞

The arrow has left the bow already, however - did you check if US political consulting firm like Precision hire international MBAs? School can only go by what you stated as your goal and at least Precision Strategies does not appear in USCIS data. Secondly, IMHO, your why MBA for such a career will be crucial to convince the adcoms. Unless you evaluated and rejected, MPP may well be a better route for your objectives than MBA. It's still early days for R2 interview calls. Best wishes.

That is a big question and I assume the OP checked though the political consulting is likely very very niche, so there is no "norm" or "standard".... they hire specific networked people rather than MBA's (just a guess)
