Difficult situation with recommender

Question

I asked my current supervisor for a recommendation letter for MBA programs, however it seems he does not want to write me one because he does not want me to leave the company... How do I approach this situation?

Pretty much. Do not select anyone who is less than enthusiastic about you going to business school.

Also, you can add 1-2 sentences in the additional info section of the applications explaining why you don't have a current, direct supervisor writing your recommendation letters (i.e. your supervisor is not supportive of you getting an MBA). This situation actually happens quite often.

Yuppers- you are going to need to select a different recommender as you can't take the risk that this person does not want to help you get an MBA! As long as you explain that you don't feel your supervisor supports your MBA ambitions - and then explain how/why you chose the recommender you did- it will be ok.
