Hello everyone!
I’m an Indian non-engineer male, aspiring to do my MBA from one of the M7 schools. My GMAT score is 750 (Q 49, V 45, AWA 5.5, IT 7) and I applied to four schools in Rounds 2 & 3 - Booth, Columbia, Wharton & Stern.
I interviewed for Booth but was rejected after that. For Wharton & Columbia I wasn’t invited to interview. I have been on the waitlist for Stern for 3 months. At the moment, I don’t believe I will be starting my MBA this year.
After a long and tiring admissions process that ended only a couple of weeks ago, I’m starting my reapplication journey again for 2021 intakes.
I believe I have solid extra curriculars (co-founding a community coaching centre, training enterprising women from lower income groups in suburban Mumbai, public speaking etc.), good academics (Distinction undergrad from Mumbai University, CA and CFA both in first attempts) and a decent work experience of ~4.5 years as an auditor with a global consulting firm and a financial controller at a global financial services firm.
I’m looking to understand what could’ve possibly gone wrong in my applications that I fared so badly this year. Also, I need some help with my reapplication. I worked on them myself last year and sought help from current students at various schools in crafting my MBA essays and everything else.
Could anyone please help me with some suggestions or a review of my application? A general feedback I received was that my resume is poorly drafted, but I’m sure that cannot be the only reason so I’m looking for more. It would be a great help from members of this forum as I don’t wish to repeat the same mistakes again, and this time around I really wish to make it to my dream school - Booth.
