Hi, these are my scores Official Practice test scores -
Practice test 1 - 645
Practice test 2 - 715
Practice test 3- 695
Practice test 4- 655

In the first 3 tests, I noticed a predictable pattern of the algorithm - starts off with medium level questions and then progressively become harder if my correct streak contiues for many questions and then again bring it down to medium if I get one wrong. But in my 4th Practice test, I noticed that it started with almost hard questions right from the get-go and then even when I knew I was getting some questions wrong, the level didn't really go down much and continued with the hard pattern. In general, I felt Test 4 questions had much much more complex questions than Test 1,2 and 3.  So, I was wondering, since 3 and 4 have common question bank and are tied together, does test scores in Test 3 affect the algorithm for Test 4?
Hi! No, all the tests are completely independent in terms of algorithms or difficulty level. GMAC tries to include all types of questions (in terms of difficulty level) in the mock tests. I have seen a lot of aspirants getting difficult questions at the beginning (even in actual GMAT). And sometimes the test begins with really easy questions as well.
Since there is a dip in test 4, I hope you have analyzed the test and figured if you got a few streaks of questions wrong (especially towards the end of the test), spent a lot of time on initial questions and then you were running against time etc.

Yes, I do feel that my time management this time was much worse than my last 2 tests cos I kept struggling to understand many of the questions in quant and DI. Specially, in DI, I ended up guessing a LOT! I was surprised that I even stayed within the 93rd percentile! I thought I was gonna score in the 570s! I'll focus on my weak areas and retake the Practice test 4 in 3-4 days and see what happens this time

Yeah that makes a lot of sense and that's a great strategy (to focus on weak areas). I am glad that candidates are adopting that strategy. :)

Feel free to reach out if you need any help.

Thanks for the encouragement! Would you recommend retaking practice test 4 or moving onto test 5 for now and retaking 4 at a later date since there's a chance of question repeats in test 4 and test score inflation?

I believe it would be better to take test 5 and test 6. You can then reset (3&4) and (5&6), and retake them. I hope you are aware that you can reset (3&4) only once and (5&6) only once.

Along with this, I hope you have finalised your test-taking strategy and you are executing it in your mocks. It is going to be really important to have that strategy and execute it repeatedly on your mocks

That's great to hear. All the best for executing it regularly.
