yeeeaaaaaa i heard about that. that's why im trying to study hard and get this done before the change lol
i am getting confused about the date of the change, do you know when is it exactly?
It's only changing for next year... From june onwards they're gonna have that section as an extra section which will not be scored... Think of it as a mega experimental question...

Anyway... back to the subject... I never tried listening to any hard rap :P I listen to classic rock and I air guitar the riffs while solving problems...

i think the air guitar is the key here, and if I am pretty sure that there is a study out there that would show if you improve your air guitar skills you will improve your gmat score automatically...lol

Don't know about GMAT skills man... But it does help improve actual guitar skills if done the right way :)

Playing the actual guitar develops muscle memory and air guitaring helps refresh the muscle memory! I can air guitar most of the songs I listen to 8-)

I am a progressive/technical metal fan (Dream Theater, Spiral Architect, Circus Maximus etc. fan) but I like to appreciate these when I am not doing mental work =)

I also get really distracted by vocals, so it is hard for me to study while listening to these (strangely this wasn't the case before high school and before I took up playing the classical guitar and paying in my high-school tech-metal band :) before that I did most of my studying listening to Manowar, Pantera & Blind Guardian :) )

I do however listen to (Minimal/Detroit) Techno while studying especially when I need something to keep me awake - so check these guys out for the purpose:

* Adam Beyer

* Marco Carola

* Chris Liebing

* Umek

* Christian Varela

I have since grade school.

Classical during study: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, etc. Love the solo piano stuff, it's kind of cheesy but it is relaxing. I think it's a genre called solo piano. Love etudes and quartets. Non lyrical stuff.

Rap, metal, etc during workout: lilwayne, jayz, led zep, beastie boys, etc etc.

Upbeat stuff off of pandora during work: jason mraz, Sean Kingston, recently found Kaskade and other types of house/electronic...

But yea music is a must. You should see my playlist on all random, hopping from Ludwick van Beethoven to Ludacris is not uncommon... Lol!

lol... Must say, I have never met a person with such a diverse taste in music...

I'm an instrument type guy, guitar in particular. I don't pay attention to the lyrics! My song selection is limited to the "Classic Rock" genre! I love covers and concert versions better than studio recorded versions. I have 25 different versions of my favorite song (including my own cover)

8-)
